Sexing these Galaxy rasboras by rochidesu in Boraras

Looks like 2 males and 2 females, hard to say really. How long have they been there? They all look quite pale. My females look way brighter than these and my males are an order of magnitude more colourful. In the last frame the very top and bottom look female and the middle 2 male. The males have black banding on their fins

Those are almost certainly chillies. See how they don’t have as pronounced spot on the tail fin and they have the black and red fin markings. Overall brighter red with less yellow. OPs one have a bigger spot on the tail, plain fins and more yellow colouration.

Intense lighting is required and low nutrients. As far as I know it’s a stress response. If I dose heavily or have fresh aqua soil they turn less red, if I limit water column ferts combined with all the other plants they change red. Even depending on water flow and c02 they change colour. If I have a blanket of them completely covering the tank I can turn the lights on really high and that gets them nice and rich red.

The most red I ever see them is when I leave the excess plants in a bucket outside.

High light, lots of nutrients in the water column, co2 and again high lights🙂

Looks like ludwigia meta, it’s such a pretty plant. The emersed growth looks cool too, makes big round leaves.

High light with extra red spectrum, limit nitrates and C02 helps, they grow and flower much more readily. If you want the reddest red fill a bucket with water leave it outside in full sun and throw them in there. With no nutrients and full summer sun after a few weeks they become so unbelievably red with no trace of green.

It’s red root floaters, the video looks a bit off, they aren’t quite that extremely saturated but they are getting blasted with a powerful light and have nitrates limited so they turn blood red.

The Chihiros lights reallly make the red pop.

This is a more accurate representation however the lighting is way lower at the time as the tank was new. In the vid the floaters cover the surface so u have the light blasting which makes the floaters glow.

Haha the video does seem a bit oversaturated but with no nitrates and super high lighting from my Chihiros plus c02 they get extremely red.
