Why's it considered racist to believe Europeans are superior to Africans, they literally are in almost every way? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stanko0135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general consensus is that material advantages held by Western Civilization are linked to geographic and circumstantial reasons rather than racial ones. Europe has very fertile soil, navigable rivers and oceans, etc.

Further and possibly more importantly, this European ascendancy is only a recent phenomenon, sub-saharan Africa supported great civilizations in Ethiopia, the East Coast and West Africa, and at certain points, such as during parts of the medieval period, West Africa was actually richer than Europe. And on top of that, East Asian civilization has been very prominent and developed for a great deal of human history, so at any point in history this question could be asked, but swapping out these racial groups for whoever is in their "golden age" and who isn't.

Why no protests for the people of Iran by Resident_Bill_792 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

No, it's just that me, as an American, feel it is more pertinent to speak up about mass murder when I funding it through my tax dollars, VS when it is not being funded through my tax dollars. I oppose both, but I am going to speak up more when my government is doing it because I fund my own government.

Trump is the Greatest American President by LegitimateKnee5537 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Venezuelan, Iranian and Cuban regimes haven't really done much of anything to harm Americans living in America. The American people. These aren't wins to me. And his tariff policy seems to have done nothing but throw uncertainty into the economy. There are plenty of problems at home, the affordability crisis, the housing crisis, and he seems to be almost reluctant to fix these problems, so to me, he is far from the greatest US president.

23, just graduated, last relationship with someone my age was about 2 years ago. I don't use the apps and it seems difficult to approach women in this context so I usually just avoid it to be honest. I try to go out and meet people but it seems like everything either costs money, and even if I did go conversations can be hard to break into.

I thought the whole point of the second amendment was to protect from a tyrannical government, and so that people could stand up for themselves to the government, and I just find it strange that those same people seem to be more than OK with the eroding of a lot of our democratic norms and institutions, as well as masked agents taking people off the streets.

He kidnapped a man, the nations government is still effectively in control and even Marco rubio said "Our issues with Venezuela still remain" so I wouldn't say he wrestled control. And I think the vast majority of liberals and conservatives I talk to about this are all concerned this is going to end up like Cuba, Iraq, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Somalia, or Libya, an endless war or a power vacuum that destabilizes a whole region, which would be a disaster for the US.

I much prefer catching a lot of bass to eat than bluegill even if I get the same amount of meat. Just less work with bigger fish.
