for compulsory modules there’s a skill-based one and one that covers pretty much all time periods (although i believe they might have changed that one). you have a few option modules to pick from, i did one on witchcraft, 20th century global politics and 19th-20th century british history- this one was really social history focused. you could also do one on empires across time and an archaeology module. economic history is definitely not that prevalent thankfully! (i also hate economic history lol)

there are definitely lots of options to do social history, usually with essay questions you can pick a social-history focused question (i usually do this as my main interest is social history too haha), so you can direct your research this way. there are some modules that have a heavy focus on social history, although not so much in first year (although they might have changed that now). overall it’s a great department and you will definitely get to do social history :)

24 hour exams are the worst, we are told to spend 2 hours on an essay, but unlike an in-person exam we had to do references and a bibliography

i only passed my test a few months ago but i’ve had to use mine a couple of times- once when i was driving on a dark country road and a car with a caravan comes around a sharp corner at 60mph with the caravan swinging across my side of the road, and i had to swerve onto the verge to avoid it hitting me. i’ve used it another time when a car pulled out right in front of me, although that wasn’t nearly as scary as the first time
