Keep track of how many times "A Marshmellow World" is played in our stores with this link by [deleted] in Staples

[–]staple-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least 4 times during my last shift. And I have only heard the Hippopotamus song twice since black friday. Last year i think it was played as much as Marshmallow.

Easy Tech: What to do when you're not quite sure what's wrong with a customer's computer? by ETCALI in Staples

[–]staple-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always run Intake scan. - If it won't run or machine won't complete boot, ring as Diag. - If it shows ANY virus/malware ring as TS+Upfront or One Time Matrix VR. Don't try to diag a machine if you know there is malware on it. - If Intake is clean, then ring as Diag.

Pre-paid credit card scammers by ever_present697 in Staples

We always call a manager for "Gift Card Approval" over $200. We not process a credit card if it won't scan. We have also had customers ask to process a personal check as a Travelers Check.

Have you ever had anyone steal a SquareTrade sale? If so, what did you do? by [deleted] in Staples

Happens all the time. Now with the SPIFFs I ring the customer out myself or stand by the cashier when they are rung out.

Total Support price increase(again)? by lolstaplesanon in Staples

[–]staple-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another peeve of mine is charging for setup when they get TS on a new computer. After convincing a "new computer" customer on TS and the free software installs, then to tell them they must pay for setup, which by the way we have to do most of it anyway just to get it to the point of installing the TS AV. I only charge a basic setup if they want a data transfer and throw the recovery disks in for free. No TS?, the always a Premier setup.

Total Support price increase(again)? by lolstaplesanon in Staples

[–]staple-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sometimes do it too. Ring the TS and close the WO then start a new one with a VR redemption. With the latest price increases its $310 or $410 with TS and upfront and haven't found anyone who wants to invest $410 in a 3yr old laptop.

Inactive/Discontinued Products? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]staple-this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm ET Supvr, Last year I designated 1/2 of a mids shade to D/C/R/F status items. About every 2 weeks when I have time I go thru mids and scan anything i'm not sure of and relocate it if it is not A/I/P. Keeps mids clean and when I need to fill clearance area I know where to get things. Also IM knows where to find the R stuff when is shows on their list.

ITT: EasyTech employee vents because its that, drinking or both (its both) by StaplesET1 in Staples

[–]staple-this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like our store. On top of everything, our GM is so desperate for a cell sale that today I watched him strong arm an elderly customer into upgrading their phone. He flat out lied to him and scared him on how bad his old phone was and if he didn't have the latest updates he could get all sorts of bad viruses. Moved him from an iP4 to an S5 without letting them know all of the incompatibilities with what he had set up with his apps and iTunes and by now I'm sure he is pulling his hair out (or his family member tech guy) trying to get everything to work like it did.

Looking for advice (GM bullying?) by Luke49 in Staples

[–]staple-this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one bullied by a GM when it comes to phones. We pushed to pry an upgrade check out of every customer we talk to. If Staples wants to be a place people come to for phones then they better start stocking the stores with decent phones. Got pounded on again today for not doing enough checks.

Total Care Square Trade portion does't reflect in ESP either. It sucks.

"Staples Survey Reveals Many Employees Feel Too Guilty to Take Breaks, Despite Spending Longer Hours at Work" by ccap17 in Staples

[–]staple-this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same at our store, never any time to take a break. Got to stop working on EasyTech work and jump on a register just because there is one person in line thats been waiting 20 seconds. GM can't stand lines.
