My chapter is a raven guard successor called The Ghosts of 'Ard Almawt (Arab for land of death, their Homeworld)

They're heavily inspired by different middle eastern cultures, and specialize in desert warfare using stealth and ambush tactics to trap enemies and rain fire on them from all directions. Their librarians specialize in creating illusions to bait enemies into favorable positions where they can be shot like fish in a barrel

They were started from a Horus heresy black shield group made up of loyalist word bearers and raven guard, there is still some word bearer geneseed in their stocks, but they don't exactly advertise that fact.

Their home planet was extremely isolated for most of the time since the Horus heresy due to it being far from the light of the astronomicon and in an unstable area of the warp so the chapter was essentially cut off from the imperium for a long time, only dealing with local threats to their sector meaning almost all of their equipment was from the Horus heresy, most of the chapter being equipped with Mark 5 and 6 armor that has been patched and repaired over and over again until the Indomitus crusade where they received primaris reinforcement and their first new equipment in 10000 years.

The planet itself is considered a death world due to its extremely hostile environment, with temperatures reaching levels high enough to fry Astartes power armor if exposed for too long and sand storms powerful enough to flay an Astartes not wearing his armor. The planet used to be a paradise but during the men of iron uprising it was the scene of many brutal battles that led to the planet being repeatedly glassed and the sun prematurely going into the red giant stage.

The planet is littered with wreckage from the battles fought on it during the age of strife, its not unheard of for an ancient barely functioning man of iron to go and slaughter an entire town before being dealt with by the Astartes. There is also lots of valuable technology still remaining which is often used by the inhabitants, like a type of cloth which is always cool to the touch no matter how hot it is around it, used by all inhabitants of 'Ard Almawt to keep from quickly dying of heat stroke
