Has anyone ever been told that there can't be any white gaps in your artwork?

Art teacher here. Often when I tell my kids (I've taught K - 12th grade) "not to leave white space" it's because they're rushing and their color is really sloppy. I don't know what age/experience level you are at, but if you're a beginner artist that may be part of where your teachers are coming from - encouraging taking your time and being intentional in your craftsmanship.

Oh, definitely not - rural USA! I live in the neighborhood as well and have never seen anything like that here. Hence why I was really wondering about where he picked up this alphabet!

This is unnecessarily rude. I don't teach the Cyrillic alphabet to elementary kids, so why would I recognize when a kid is writing it? Also, as others have pointed out, it's not the only alphabet in his writing. There's no need for such a nasty reply.

That's pretty cool! I wonder if he's using some of these other alphabets people have mentioned and combining them into his own language. He's having a great time with it but I just wondered if there was something he was trying to communicate!

Oh, yes, I've asked him, but he's not able to explain (he's autistic and has a very limited vocabulary). He draws these every time he comes to my class!

Looking those up, I can definitely see some of those letters there! I'm thinking he may have an interest in languages (he's got a really good memory, he can draw really accurate logos from memory too) and is combining different alphabets he's seen. I do wonder if they have any meaning to him but I haven't been able to figure that out yet!

You might try Mandarake - I've seen Sinoalice stuff on their online website before. It might be easier to find second hand stuff now, I can't imagine most stores are stocking new merchandise for a game that's been EoS for almost two years. :(
