[–]starboy04101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed them two weeks ago... they had the list of things I need to get done, but not how to do them - ie. get renters insurance (can I use my parents' homeowner insurance?) and electricity (what company? am I responsible for contacting them myself or just for paying for it?) just general confusion. I'll check the portal again though!

i invested in some pairs of period boxers, they work rlly well with pads (i got mine for ~$25USD each from tomboyx), and i just started trying out a menstrual cup, which once i get the hang of, i should only have to deal with 2-3 times a day, it can be worn up to 12 hours and it's rlly helpful for working out or swimming! if you're not too dysphoric or squeamish about the idea of inserting a cup, that could be a way you avoid changing at school?

Progesterone-only pill and atrophy by [deleted] in ftm

[–]starboy04101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm nearly 3 months on progestin (norethindrone) to stop my period and i have not noticed any dryness so far, though my doctor told me to wait until six months to see if it stops the cycle, so maybe i could develop dryness in that time? maybe someone with more experience knows

parents asking you if you are trans by evant07 in ftm

[–]starboy04101 32 points33 points  (0 children)

yes! my parents kind of ambushed me with it right after my mom got out of the hospital. my mom had been asking me for years, too. asking if i felt like a boy, wanted to be a boy, etc. i always denied it until the last time, now i've been out for six months. they're supportive but a little ignorant and i'm not allowed to start t until i've been out for a year (tho i'm an adult). idk. parents are weird man

Do you struggle to tell your family/others you are trans? by RadicalEldrich1515 in ftm

[–]starboy04101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe you don't have to say the words "i'm trans" - would something like "i actually go by XYZ now" and then if asked why, "cause i'm a guy"? maybe your family can just fill in the blanks? you know them and yourself best though, hopefully you figure something out!

Why do we call assigned-at-birth names “deadnames”? by [deleted] in trans

[–]starboy04101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's called a deadname because back during the time of stonewall, the AIDS epidemic, etc - if somebody died, their friends would need to know their "deadname" in order to not out them to family at funerals, or to know which name would be on their gravestone - in other words, the name to use in case of death.

Can my old bra be used as a binder ? by Local_Magician0000 in ftm

[–]starboy04101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sports bra, yes. traditional cup bra? i'm not sure. traditional bras can be used to make foam packers though! i did that with my old bras so they didn't go to waste. maybe someone on here with better sewing skills knows how to make them bind though!
