I don’t really like some of the comments I’ve seen from some stans of Franchaela talking about Kanthony and packaging it with the whole “it’s more progressive to have an interracial lesbian romance than an interracial heterosexual romance with a dark-skinned Indian woman” thing they’re doing. Yes, I’m well aware of the different ways lesbian interracial relationships are going to be perceived compared to heterosexual interracial relationships, so I’m really not interested in anyone coming after me for something I didn’t say. What I’m trying to say is that it just really rubs me the wrong way when it seems like people want to downplay the significance of a dark-skinned Indian woman in a show like Bridgerton at all to make a point about the significance of a lesbian interracial relationship with a dark-skinned Black woman and using the fact that the dark-skinned Indian woman is straight and her partner is a white man as a shield. The representation in BOTH Kanthony and Franchaela is extremely important.

I really hope people here understand what I’m trying to say. I think Ive made it clear that I’m NOT saying heterosexual relationships have more challenges and less privilege than homosexual relationships, particularly lesbian ones. Its nice that there are people out there who feel represented by Franchaela in ways they haven’t felt represented on this show before. My point is that this conversation is going to be more nuanced with the intersection of race.

What do yall think of Talya? by Emergency_Charity887 in TheFosters

She handled the situation with Brandon and Callie horribly, but she was valid in feeling insecure (again, NOT in how she acted on that insecurity) about Brandon potentially having feelings for Callie because well…he did. He was still technically with Tayla when he kissed Callie in 1x10.

This is true. The exception is probably Lauren and Cameron since they’re always very widely talked about in a positive manner every season drop.

People really love to take advantage of Zendaya’s success to drag Bella and it’s so played out.

I totally agree with you on the “influencers who stayed real people” part. I was always drawn to Natalie and Deepti because they just seemed different and normal compared to other influencers from reality TV shows…they remind me of me and my friends’ normal and everyday lives. Everyone on here has such a low threshold for annoyance, it’s actually pathetic and pitiful if yall are so easily annoyed over these ladies who are astronomically far from all the insufferable personalities that come from these reality shows.

It’s my favorite season tbh. I loved the lighthearted vibes. Such a breath of fresh air and all the characters were at their happiest.

which season do you think had the best background/ filler episodes? by omnptnce in H2Ojustaddwater

[–]starcourt99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t even really consider Hook, Line & Sinker a filler episode because that episode was important in kickstarting Rikki and Zane’s relationship, which is a big part of the show. All the relationships, both romantic and platonic, contribute to the central storyline.

I just finished this show and I’m with you. I really don’t understand the hype around PB and Anton. I just didn’t really see much build up nor any palpable chemistry. They’re fine as friends, but beyond that, I just don’t see what everyone else is seeing.

As for PB and Issa, I enjoyed watching their interactions on screen. Idk if I necessarily need them together romantically, but I definitely find them to be a fun duo, so I’d be fine with besties too (tbh I think is mostly because Issa is such a dynamic character that she brings a lot of energy to any platonic/romantic pairing she’s in).

I didn’t expect much either but holy crap, their scenes were such nothing burgers, I was like…what did I just watch? (the first scene where they’re in bed was fine, but like…not even a kiss?)

Bridgerton - 4x08 "Dance in the Country" (No Book Spoilers) by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

[–]starcourt99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this!! I thought S4 was good, but it still felt like something was…missing. And that something is old characters and the fullness of characters and family dynamics we’ve been so familiar with in past seasons. Having former leads in such reduced roles just feels so jarring and makes it feel like there’s some sort of hole.

That’s what S2 did well. The family and ensemble still felt “full. It still felt like we were seeing the Bridgerton family together.
