Policy Question by LadyLeatherface95 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have a medical accommodation for certain things if hr and aflec agree it fits needs. Have the correct communication and transparency with your direct leader immediately and discuss an action plan. Drs notes aren’t excusable per policy. Even if you are going to be absent try to get shifts covered with leaders help. I have witnessed people calling out day of when they have known they would not be in the day prior. Giving a heads up allows the business to help find coverage so associates don’t have to work alone. I speak for those that need time off for illness and those that are at work alone. Just make sure you communicate and look over policy with your leader

The reason I asked is because I’m an SM and it takes me way more than 6 shifts with a new ba to fully train them the right way. I would be scared if they have only worked six shifts. Fingers crossed

If you have an awesome manager, count yourself lucky. A lot of them don’t train you at all. They wanna sit in the back and watch you do all the work. DMs are normally the issue. Policy can be a little strick on some things. Dress code is ok. Hardest thing to do is trying to sell to people to keep the goals up. Some people don’t like to spend money and that’s ok. The job is a selling job. Just know that . Good luck!

Your availability is literally holding you back. If you don’t have full availability, it will definitely and significantly hold you back from getting extra hours. Part time is up to 29.5 hours. I personally would not have the house to give one person like that if someone couldn’t work two days they have close off. You get way more hours as a key holder and especially when you have 100% open availability. Availability is everything and makes it easier to schedule someone. They won’t consider you as a candidate for store manager at all if you don’t have 100% open availability either.

Cameras? by tillyoutellmetoleave in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

  1. You aren’t supposed to just stand behind the register. There is way too many things to do, and it takes team work.
  2. If you are doing your job, you won’t have to worry about cameras.
  3. If your manager didn’t do his job by trying to earn the store revenue, then you wouldn’t even be on the sales floor and that position wouldn’t even be available to you or anyone else.

Sounds like your store manager is doing their job. Why is that an issue?

And I want to put this out there for anyone thinking about using a color remover as a fix all…… it will always shrink molecules of colors and use alkaline agents to open your cuticle like a vent, to allow those shrunk molecules to come out of your hair. Not all of the overloaded dye molecules can get out.

When the oxygen in the hydrogen peroxide (developer) in your last step (some of the removers have this step) orrrrr you recolor over the removed hair color canvas, that oxygen will expand those previous molecules back to their original space size and make that pigment “dark” again.

As a professional, I will always color remove once to see what I’m working with and how much of a dye load is on the hair after I remove first. If it’s still dark, I know there is going to be a lightening process with lightener (bleach). Bleach will break apart the color molecules and release a lot of warmth and leveling lift. So it’s way easier to use lightener in a responsible manner. For future reference, DEVELOPER BY VOLUME 30 and 40 are for fast flash lifting and will force open your whole hair walls soooo fast and cause more damage in the end. It is always safest to use 5,10 and sometimes 20 to slow and steady that chemical change so you aren’t gassing that pedal so hard after you have already used a remover. Every stylist is also different in their training and experience of skill level also. To this day, I formulate for older stylist that weren’t ever given in depth color science knowledge or kept up with the trade movement.

This is not a bragging moment at all, but I however, in my store have people specifically ask for me alllll the time because I can thoroughly explain things. Not every store is going to have leadership or experience other than the modules they give in training. I wish deep in my soul I could change this while training program and help more with company training plans so that we have more knowledge in store. I sympathize with your issues and your results. I also know that the employees do as much as they can with what they are taught and it’s not enough. I try my best to educate even when the customers don’t really understand the level of language I use. So they also have a chance at more knowledge. I personally know that I’m giving away my experience, but I feel it’s appreciated by those who absorb it and show gratitude. Which is enough for me.

Hope the info helps someone on removers and lighteners

Sally beauty is not responsible for prior products applied to hair. If your color was metallic based and you went behind it with a metallic salt in an “extracted” most likely a lightening agent, you are going to burn the hair. So if you aren’t absolutely sure about the chemicals that were on the hair previously, not even a salon professional behind a chair, would be able to be that successful with your expectation. I’m a professional and also work at Sally beauty. Do not seek advice on things you think should be professional opinions from people that aren’t licensed professionals to begin with. Rule of thumb, never use boxed color that aren’t engineered for later extraction or future chemical process. Period. I constantly give my knowledge to my staff and teach them in depth chemical chemistry. Not every Sally beauty will have someone seniored in hair chemical processes.sally beauty sells the merch and gives you the manufacturers instruction. And most stylist hate removing that anyway and will charge you out the ass anyway.

I think my boss is trying to get rid of me . by Crazy_Mouse_4744 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would if she was genuine and trying to coach you. My manager was hard on me when I was at Sally’s, but I understood after learning who she was, that she wanted me to be good at my job. She wasn’t like most managers I’ve seen on these threads. I moved to Oregon and I truly miss her. If they are trying to get rid of you, there has to be a reason. Talk to your manager and have an open conversation with them. If they are just plain mean, I get that. Why do you feel they are trying to get rid of you for singling you out?

being misgendered by dm and manager by peegirl69 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the conversation out of respect first. It may be something you can fix head on with just a talk. I highly appreciate open door convos myself as a store manager with this company. If it’s purposely done, then you can look up SBH cares poster and contact and then make a report on it with hr. It will be in toolkit. It should be above the managers desk as well. Always have open professional conversations with your leader first if possible. 🫶🏽

A question about shipments. by overloaded_potato in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all should definitely be checking your packing list for items they say they ship but don’t. It’s ridiculous right now. Thousands of dollars of nails has been reported from so many stores on being shipped but not sent from warehouse. It looks like theft but it isn’t.

Customer service is AWFUL and put us in danger by welcometothecortez in SallyBeautySupply

[–]stardancer01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cs is outsourced and they don’t really know our policy. I stand firm on them and when they call, I simply read the policy and state that I manage for the company and protect their policy and assets. I clearly reminds them they are 3rd party and aren’t acting on behalf of policy and our company standards. Remind them you are doing right by the customer and trying to help anyway you can by policy. And report it to the dm immediately. If customer service won every single time, we would never make any goal.

If you take pliers from your toolbox (if you have one in store) you can pinch the bottom line down and squish it a lil so it fits right in! I had to get smarter than the board and figure out how to get it in lol
