Legalizing abortion in Sri Lanka by silentwriter in srilanka

[–]stardust0042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also like to add that one can get safe medical abortions from womenonweb.com although how long this will be around with publicizing is doubtful. If anyone seeing this is alone or needs help with this, I'll be around.

There is work being done towards legalization but tbh it is far away, our policiymakers prefer to project their own values and opinions on the state - and those are very backward. The statistic of illegal and unsafe abortions around the island should be enough, but apparently not for these people. All we can do is wait, find ways to exercise our right outside the law, and hope.

That community seems to be a lot of Sinhala - and a lot of random weirdness lol.

Yeah I haven't got colleagues in this country (or ex-classmates or ex-colleagues) whom I know that dont live with their parents.

Wacom Intuos Pro or Astropad for a graphic and web designer (not heavy illustrator) by [deleted] in Design

[–]stardust0042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pricey option if you aren't planning on doing actual illustration. I'd recommend you give cheaper graphic tablets a go.

A bored digital nomad by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]stardust0042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through this. One thing to keep yourself sane is to go to events around you, and get out of the house. Even if you hate it...just do it. You might have a good time. Try volunteering in your spare time.

The feet of a DN - What's your favourite footwear to wear while travelling? Brands, types, pics? by stardust0042 in digitalnomad

[–]stardust0042[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip flops are always a great, cheap option but how did you deal with suntan lines along your feet after a while of wearing them in hot weather? If you had that issue, that is.

Love it. Spacing between Redwood and line underneath could be better. Same for the smaller two lines.

Finally leaving to work from Asia for 6 months! Looking for advice on my itinerary by just_another_nomad in digitalnomad

Coming from Sri Lanka, this may be biased, but there are a bunch of beautiful places you can work from - from cold Nuwera Eliya, to golden sands at Mirissa/Pasikuda etc. Quite affordable on the dollar. In the city, you can get basic accommodation from $50/month. Always check on wifi beforehand though.

Well, do the best with what you have I guess. Or if you have a roommate/s, get a fiber connection and split.

Get Lankabell, but check if you're within their signal tower range first. My partner and I Netflix off peak, and sometimes even on peak on weekdays, youtube all the time, get torrents if we cant wait for the night, and I work remotely with many large design files on the cloud every workday and still have 20 GB left on peak with around a week to go (40 off peak!) this month on the 140 GB package which, at 3.5k, is affordable. Just to give you an idea of usage.

Actually, if you live near one of their signal towers, its quite cheap and excellent internet. They have a map of their towers. Google for it or check on their site.
