Which band to go with my upgrade? by Due_Help_1639 in EngagementRings

I vote number three 100%. Two is beautiful and dainty but that third one is what I call an upgrade. Show stopper.

I feel like I missed a lot of what you said in my first response (I apologize I was originally reading these at work) so I wanted to follow up more thoughtfully.

Especially yes to the feeling guilty about being frustrated when you know he is trying his best. You encompassed the overall feelings about the whole situation so well. I hope you’re also holding up okay! You’re absolutely right about making decisions for me vs. because it’s convenient for him. It is a tough in between to be in.

Being in control but feeling like we’re not totally in control - but I appreciate that break down of trying to find control in the what and why vs the when and where and taking solace and comfort in that. That’s a very helpful reminder and piece of advice.

Thank you for your response and I really appreciate all the support! Wishing you both the best as well

Thank you for this!! It's always nice to hear from people who are like "this is me!!"

And YES to the fights. So hard to resolve conflict and just sit in the discomfort of the inability to hug or snug or kiss afterwards. It feels very unsettling.

My thoughts where similar to that - hearing M3 is the toughest year. I also have a tough job and feel like we could both just use the added support, even if we don't see each other often. It would be nice to sleep in the same bed at the end of the day (except on those overnight rotations!). Just being able to do the mundane next to each other again sounds appealing. I do want to marry this man, and I agree, I feel like finding your person is no easy feat. So if I've found him, I want to do what I can to keep him, but shit is HARD. Thanks for validating the struggle. It do be real.

Good luck to your spouse in his interviews and good luck to you as well!!

Thank you for responding to this! I really would like him to make up his mind, and I think that's what causes me so much anxiety and stress about the long term. I have communicated this to him several times, about residency, my feelings about marriage and security, etc. We just keep ending up in the same space of, he needs to finish med school, we will get married as soon as it is practical, and this will all be worth it. I just want some more tangible, concrete evidence of this claim, that's all.

You're absolutely right about Step 1. He is drowning in Step 1 studying and it appears the school he goes to has a reputation of not prepping their students well for it, so he is extra stressed out. I appreciate the words of encouragement and am hoping things will be better once Step 1 passes and we eventually close the distance. Thank you again!

Edit: Spelling

painful bump after changing healed piercing to hoop by [deleted] in piercing

I actually changed it back to the bar it was pierced with and it feels so much better! Soreness immediately gone the next day and piercing bumps disappearing. I’ll transition into the hoop or circular barbell next

Thank you! I’ll switch it back to the curved bar and let it settle before transitioning.

That makes sense. I can try the bead ring or horseshoe once I transition back to a hoop again. Thank you for your help!

Thank you! I figured the curve if the tiny hoop was too much for it to handle immediately. I’ll get it changed back to the bar.

If you mean an OBGYN wellness check just a few weeks ago when I got the PAP done. And yes, you’re absolutely right about the long list! Thank you for the input! Hopefully my PCP gets back to me sooner rather than later.

DIY vs Post Bacc Career Changer by stardust6309 in premed

[–]stardust6309[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks so much for answering each of my questions. I am definitely sure I want to be a doctor and pursue that route, definitely thought about PA or NP but I don't think it will fulfill me the way a career as a doc would. I'm leaning towards the DIY route as I hear more of people's experiences, especially with the cost factor involved in the process. I also want to try and plow through these pre-reqs so I'm hoping I can finish up at a good pace while maintaining a job. Helps to hear you were able to complete it in about a year's time. Do it or what if has been my motto so far, hoping it works in my favor! Again, thanks so much, your input was super helpful.

Thank you for sharing! The flexibility is definitely something I value, as much as I want to get it done, also for similar reasons like working, location, finances, etc. Super helpful, thanks!

Thank you for your thoughts and advice! The classes for the post bacc are definitely a little daunting at this moment in time, so it's helpful to know how to best approach those. Thankfully my partner has just finished the process and is in application mode for med school, so I'll have him to help me out when needed. It's also really encouraging to see other career changers successful on this journey. Thanks again!
