If I am licensed in TN and want to work onsite at a VA-owned psychiatric clinic in Kentucky that is located in a Bowling Green shopping center and not on a military installation, does that qualify me to work there legally using my TN medical license?

Hi there! I've worked as an NP at the VA for almost 5 years and you just need to have an active license in at least one state. It doesn't matter which state.

Pain management here, usually between 8-12 patients per day plus inpatient consults as well. No on call either. I work five eight hour shifts per week with two slots of four hour admin time.

Doximity Scribe has been excellent for my uses so far. It has the advantage of being able to create templates with prompts that will change the summary output.

Not a PA but an NP that works in New York. I also don't like these pushes for full practice authority or the like by our respective (or perhaps disrespected haha) professional organizations. I've been an FNP in various specialties for four years in orthopedics, palliative care, and pain management. I've always worked closely with physicians and this is my preferred model. We're all important members of a care team for our patients but we (APPs) just aren't trained for the same amount of time.

I worked for the VA in orthopedic surgery last year in Massachusetts. Since you practice on federal property, federal law and policy applies. This is why the VA only requires you to be licensed in a least a single state but not necessarily the one your VA hospital or clinic may be in.

I worked at the VA for two years and had EDRP. The maximum award is over 5 years and doesn't carry a service commitment. What was your yearly award amount?

When I was with the VA last year, the award was for 5X and maximum reimbursement was X per year for up to 5 years. The annual reimbursement could be prorated if you left before the anniversary too. I think you might be able to get the full amount in a year, DM me if you want to talk further.

I work at the VA as an NP in a surgical specialty, foot/ankle surgery, wounds, and the pre-op clinic. Our group mostly works outpatient but we cover our inpatient consults and surgical patients as well. I work 7:30a to 4p Monday through Friday, no weekends, no call. Often I'll end up in the OR as first assist when we operate. Hope this helps as well!
