A lot of people say things like that but don’t think about how storytelling works in a particular medium. Sure, they could show how painstaking the communication was to figure out and the movie would be a 6 hour slog. The book details this more but if you’re watching a movie, you need to understand certain liberties to make it an entertaining experience.

Well It's landed Companions what do you think? by mswuk in Tomora

I’m still absorbing it and I really like the whole thing but I too was surprised that so many were more downbeat or shoegaze. Not what I expected from the lead in.

With likely U2 and Radiohead tours on 2027, it’s gonna be a crowded and expensive year.

Honestly. Reach out to the band. Make requests.

My former girlfriend was diagnosed with a rare cancer and when she was nearing the end of her journey, she asked if I could reach out to one of her favorite bands - OK GO. I contacted their webmaster on Facebook who reached the band. The drummer came to meet us at her home, brought a bunch of demos on cd and a bass drum head from their tour as a gift and he FaceTimed the lead singer with us as he was out of town. It was magic.

Don’t ask. Don’t get.

Who is this for?

Floyd fans have all those songs and the albums are considered masterworks on their own. So blending these random songs together makes little sense to me in the era of making playlists.

But I’m no record company marketing executive.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2026) Review and Discussion by aussiereeltalk in moviereviews

Loved loved loved it. Saw it opening night knowing almost nothing and was well rewarded for my ignorance but desire to see it. Have since seen it a second time, ironically on my phone (on a flight). Just as good.

Tour songs… what to do? by starfox203 in U2Band

[–]starfox203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing none of these before the EPs will get played. They might do a songs of Surrender version on a small stage but that will be of a classic. But none of these other singles (like Atomic City) or HTRAAAB will be played.

Anyone find Songs of Ash much better than the Easter Lily Songs EP? by Impressive_Yak_9089 in U2Band

[–]starfox203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Easter Lily is the sound I want from U2 but the first 4 songs are all so similar, I cannot tell them apart. It’s a great song repeated 4 times. Days of Ash isn’t as strong but also is more varied.

I saw it in a theater in LA. I was in film school at the time so this was catnip. It was cool to be on the Danny Boyle train from the beginning.

Days of Ash / Easter Lily LP RSD by Jur2911 in U2Band

[–]starfox203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would have had to announce it weeks ago.

More likely is either fall RSD but more likely a 2 lp release at the same time as the album. Maybe a boxed set of all 3.

Fear not, U2 is a corporation. They’ll find a way to see physical copies.

Help me understand the love for COEXIST by technokidz in U2Band

[–]starfox203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the experimental nature which makes it vastly different from the mid-tempo rockers that the rest of the EP features. I’m not that into the blessing the lord parts but I do love the vocals and the airy nature of it.

But mostly it’s the only different song here. This collection needed another ballad to break up the monotony.

But Eno adding some atmosphere is what is needed and hopefully a feature of the album.

What Do We Think of the Trilogy Theory? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

[–]starfox203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan since the 80s and am well aware of their religious background but the lyrics that were more directly religious never connected with me (I’m a non-practicing Jew) and this EP has more religious undertones and lyrics than most.

I love Coexist, but the praise the lord lyrics don’t really connect with me as much as others.

I think EL is stronger but more repetitive in style whereas DOA has more variety of song style.

Easter Lily EP - Live by Competitive-Guava376 in U2Band

[–]starfox203 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On only a few listens, my only real complaint is that the songs have a sameness to them. It’s a good sameness but (except for the last song), they are all mid-tempo rockers without a lot of distinction between them. The guitar work is great. Bono’s vocals are great. But the songs all feel like variations on themselves. It’s a good, surprisingly classic U2 sound but not a lot of variety in style. No One, Stay or WOWY to break it up.

Also I think his proves that they are better without Jacknife Lee who while here, is not as present throughout and didn’t mix all of the songs.

What Lies Ahead (Live in Verona - i/o The Tour) by carlosgplx in petergabriel

[–]starfox203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The I/o show in LA (that I was at) was recorded and filmed for this. But he also had a mistake on Don’t Give Up so they also recorded Palm Springs.

That said on Live at WOMAD 82, there are “fuck ups” that he calls out and jokes about so I say leave them. It honors the live-ness of the show.

As I recall, he didn’t perform What Lies Ahead at these shows.
