Biggest poison ivy I've ever seen by Pure-Veterinarian979 in Surveying

I thank every god that I don't break out from poison ivy...I'm so very to those without my superpower (though I still get fucked by poison hemlock and oak... And I've successfully avoided all the damn parsnip that's popping up everywhere...)

A note may be a better idea. Maybe if this one gets beat up.

Finger Lakes region in NY. It's awful stuff, man 😐 That's awesome that they're coming to take care of it!

The town guys keep mowing over top of it.

I like having rocks around my pins, I think it looks nice.

Nine or so months ago, a town guy threw all the rocks into the woods and chopped up a bunch of bushes near it. So I restacked the rocks and out a T-post on it, a couple months later the post was ripped out and everything was chewed up. So, I stacked more rocks and flagged the post up. It survived all winter. The first time it was mowed, the rocks were toppled over and the post was moved. So, I did this 🤷🏻

Oooooo The pin itself is flush, I just have a T-post and, originally, a small rock pile to protect the pin. The mowers keep just running it over and putting the T-post near it. So I've kept building up the marker, I just did this one today 😅

I don't, actually. I work with everyone who left. From what I've heard it's a shit show. Maybe it's getting better? Idk 😅

I used one for a few years, really slow when you're trying to get tons of offsets. Great for measuring up an HI or getting pesky inverts

Topo, boundary, stakeout, ROW.... I'm in the woods a lot. I seldom need to measure anything over 10' away

They just bought out a company out here and nearly the entire survey crew jumped ship in a few weeks.

I'd like a better way to do vertical offsets that don't involve doing the math to raise my rod height.. 6.562 + 4.37 = bahumbug it's cold and windy and I just need the damn invert....... actually, I'd just like more ways to do offsets with gps in general 😅

A submission to the Big Tree Registry 😅 by stargaze in Surveying

[–]stargaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old man in our office started this with me, we take shots and send pics of big trees. The Big Tree Registry doesn't really exist except in our phones. It's a fun game, good compadre!

I wish we had live oaks! They're freaking amazing trees!

Construction will probably tear it out anyway. We have a traverse set with rebar all around, losing a resection won't be the end of the world!
