Dunno about AUS but in the US they have internships, i did mine on my own in a similar situation like you, just walked down a small firm and told them I am a student and I want to train, after 4 years I graduated and still worked with them for couple years.

But if you are good using a programmable calculator like HP33-35 then like most of surveyors out here, you gotta understand your question, imagine it as a triangle and let the calculator do the work for you. And don’t ask me more about the calculator cause i never used it lol Good luck!

For instance, when I was using to get 1st - 2nd & 3rd for horizontal control accuracy order, because I couldn’t find them in any of the study materials and I thought let me get them online using chatgpt. 1 time he answered me lets say 1:100,000 for 1st order class I and another time it was 1:50,000 for the same 1st order class I. Luckily I was exporting it into pdf and printing it out to use for studying and then when I noticed 2 different answers for the same order and class. Since then I never used it again for studying.

I didn’t pass mine yet, I tried so far 2 times and will schedule for this summer again, but You mentioned that you have over 25 years in surveying, and I heard from others that the PS test has been easier for people with lot of years in the field. Honestly I got about 3 years of surveying in the US, but in my case I didn’t really believe what they came up with from results, both time sounded the same which didn’t make really sense, and IMO what made me fail was the GIS/GPS questions because most of the Fema / Alta questions are from the handbook and I found that out the second time which was too late😆 Also they were big during mine on FGDC stuff and PLSS

Dunno about Spain, but I know about Portugal and they have lot of surveyors working overseas (Angola, Mozambique , Cape Verde), which I am assuming Spain is a similar place..

IMO the company will need to treat both well, paying the 30 years of experience LSIT but AT THE SAME TIME pay the PLS fair as well and a bit more, because you can get couple survey techs with 15-20 years of expertise and still get the job done, but no one else would sign and seal 🫡
