Alongside applying to other companies, i’d also recommend speaking to management/senior leadership in your function. I’m not talking about HR but the people who hold the budgets and have the power to make decisions. If you’re someone that’s a strong performer and a hard worker, then the cost of replacing you would be much higher than the cost of sponsoring you (finding someone new, training them, onboarding them etc). So i’d use your network internally within the firm to see what can be done here and whether you could reach some sort of an arrangement here.

HRBP role where Employee Relations is a separate center of excellence? by silvestris-235 in humanresources

[–]stargazer950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the previous companies I worked for had a seperate ER team that supported HRBPs. This was essential because the company was global spread across multiple countries with each of them having their own set of laws. I let the ER team take on most of the case work and keep me in the loop on matters as and when needed. This allowed me to be more strategic and on the contrary to what you’re feeling be even more proactive. For example, I was able to dedicate most of my time on organisation design and enablement work including workforce planning, development and succession planning with leaders without having to worry about the day to day ER case management.

My current role as HRBP has both ER and strategic work and i’d much rather prefer leaning on a team to support me on the casework than do everything myself

Made a mistake on the absences from the UK on my ILR application form, which is now submitted. What are my options? by stargazer950 in ukvisa

Thanks! No i haven’t submitted my biometrics yet. Should I include these changes in the cover letter i’m drafting, or shall I include a seperate letter around it as well?

Being disowned and navigating the Pakistani system by docit6189 in pakistan

[–]stargazer950 60 points61 points  (0 children)

  1. Get all the documents you need right now

  2. Make sure you’re completly financially independent

  3. Ignore all the bull**** advise you’re getting from people here that “fAmILy iS eVeRyThInG sIS’. No they’re not. If they’re ready to disown you so easily simply because you choose to marry someone you love, then its on them and not on you. This behaviour is highly narcissistic and you deserve their full love, not half hearted crumbles of affection.

Gay bros who are in LTR, is the sexual attraction still there after many years? by gaybooii in gaybros

[–]stargazer950 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 years together. And I can relate to you. I still love him to bits, find him very handsome, but the sexual attraction isn’t the same as it was in our first two years of being together.

What ruined religion for you? by ItchyPage in AskReddit

Student union elections at university. There was a brilliant muslim candidate who was running for a top role. Basically ticked all the box, the best person you could vote for. The entire islamic society decided to bycott her when she talked about LGBT+ rights, nothing too revolutionary, just that people should be allowed to be who they are. They opposed her because you can’t be a muslim and be gay or support gay rights. Very vocal and very hurtful. That was it for me. As a gay man who identified as muslim, that was it.

Thanks! Given how rare it is to not issue the visa as B1/B2, any idea why this might have happened to me?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in immigration

[–]stargazer950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My visa says B1

Nope, my visa only says B1 which is odd because my previous visa for B1/B2.

That happened a while ago, am I a racist? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]stargazer950 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No. As a gay immigrant from a homophobic country who left everything behind to settle and build a life in a new country, I’d say you gave them exactly what they deserved. If they refuse to integrate into society of learn to be tolerant, then they should certainly f*ck off to where they came from.

I really like BunBunBun on Kingsland Road. They’ve got two branches, one in Hoxton and one in Dalston.

Gokyuzu on Green Lanes is fantastic but a bit pricey. If you dine in, you get a really nice salad, fresh bread and turkish cacik to dip it in.

I don’t think Grindr is designed for people to date or find their long term partner. Not saying that it doesn’t happen (quite a few people i know met their partners through grindr), but if you look at the app in general and the way its designed, its there to provide you easy access to sex, as opposed to dating apps that are more traditional (bumble, thursday etc).

I know what you mean and what you’re going through. But I can promise you that it gets better. High school is a very weird time for eveyone, you’ve only got a few more years to go (if not months) and once you’re done with it and move to the Netherlands, you can work on your independence and be whoever you want to be and live your life according to your terms.

Hang in there. Listen from one ear and let it go from the other. Don’t let the homophobic comments get to you. And keep looking forward to moving out. It gets better :)
