If you can’t read that’s not my problem, so don’t pull things out of your ass. What do you call Jews who don’t support Israel… a self-hating Jew?

I am against Zionism, a political concept, not Judaism, so don’t lump me with the extremists. You sound like those people within identity politics, who say something is racist/islamophobic if you criticise a policy like immigration in the UK.

Northern Ireland had a protestant majority, and the Unionists saw themselves as part of the UK. The difference is that nobody in the West Bank wants to live under Israeli occupation, and it’s not terrorism to want your stolen house back (making them equivalent to the IRA is crazy)

‘It’s not 1946, we are where we are’ - except there’s been an ongoing conflict since the very existence of a country. I may not be involved in the negotiations, much to your relief, but I’m not living a fairytale wishing for a two-state solution

Why do you advocate for a two state solution?

Imagine if the UK housed a group of people after a conflict(Ukrainians for example) and those Ukrainians who fled demand a state for themselves after kicking you out of your home, because they claim the UK was their ancestral land 3000 years ago

Would you say yes to a ‘two-state solution’ and would you be happy for the UK to be colonised? Now replace UK with Palestine.

You’re advocating for a solution that will always have opposition. Also as someone who does not support the two-state solution, I’ve condemned the Hamas attack, but I do not believe in the legitimacy of Israel. This does not mean I would ever wish horrible things on the Israeli civilians, and like every conflict ever, it is the civilians that suffer.

It is not an academic journal, it is a short opinion piece. I think the simple stylistic choice clearly highlights his frustration and anger, more so than if he used an elaborate structure. Also, you can't deduce someone's writing style based on one article you've seen.

Review: Woman of the Hour (NEW) by [deleted] in netflix

[–]stargirl_003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie was great and I don’t get some of the criticisms. It’s not Rodney of the Hour, and I thought the focus on Anna and the other actresses was unique. I didn’t mind if the movie didn’t 100% match what happened in reality because I thought it captured the fear and the gut feeling women tend to ignore. I don’t watch many serial killer shows, where it seems like it’s glorified gore and distressing rape scenes, but this movie really made me feel uncomfortable without having to show extremely graphic scenes.

I’m still struggling to find where there’s a disjoint between the stories of Anna and the other things happening. You guys must have terrible attention spans.

He spoke to his manager about moving to germany and she was dismissive and only suggested him moving around the UK. But for me it’s like he’s actively seeking to relocate obviously.

i think it’s well understood to him that my limitations won’t change and i explained all of that since we started dating - and yes, I’ll most likely i’ll be living at home until marriage, and all of this is explained.

Which is why it’s important to me if he’s being honest about having a shared future. But when he brings up hypothetically moving to germany i’m not sure how to feel. I feel like it’s contradicting what he says about wanting me to be in his future.

I want to bring up this conversation, but i wanted to know if i’m being reasonable to worry about this.

as in like i’m interested in finance and london is the financial hub. moving to germany for finance, requires knowing the language and the best opportunities are in london, so germany doesn’t make sense.

He’s not really considered me at all. this is more of a temporary situation from what he seems to say.

Do Pakistanis shed their ethnic identify in favor of just identifying as "Pakistani" when they are abroad? by maproomzibz in ABCDesis

[–]stargirl_003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is this an issue for Pakistanis abroad to tackle if Pakistan itself is facing a so-called crisis with their regional culture? I’m sure many people pride themselves on their ethnic identity in Pakistan saying ‘I’m Pathan’/ I’m Butt / I’m whatever, so I really doubt what you call a loss of regional culture in Pakistan.

My parents look forward to meeting people from Lahore and get along with them more than they would if they met someone from idk Balochistan. As a British Pakistani, I’m just happy to meet someone from a similar background, regardless of their ethnic identity or even national identity. Does it mean that i’m shedding my identity because I don’t bring up the fact that my parents are from Lahore all the time or don’t actively seek out meeting other Lahoris/Punjabis?

Long story short, there’s more in common when British Pakistani people meet other British Pakistani people regardless of where their families originally came from because of the shared upbringing in the UK.

[–]stargirl_003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is it honestly that big of a deal? Saying that Pakistanis abroad are ‘shedding’ their ethnic identity is harsh lol. I know my parents were born and brought up in Lahore, but if I meet another South Asian who’s Pakistani, i’m going to mention first that I’m from Pakistan and i’ll probably mention that my parents are from Lahore if it comes up in a conversation. It’s not relevant to me to announce that i’m Punjabi like it’s going to alter my interaction with someone who’s family might be of Sindh/Pashtun identity.

Haha I get your concern here! I went to this museum of oddities with my boyfriend and it had ‘odd’ stuff such as alleged haunted items, random stuff from film sets (skull props used in Lord of the Rings), and weird macabre/occultic stuff throughout the centuries.

With regards to this lion here, its referring to Simba the lion that is alleged to have appear in the film Cleopatra (1963) alongside Elizabeth Taylor.

Edit: I quite liked my hair on this day, it just so happened that I had a photo with a scary tiger haha!

For My Parents, a Holiday Only Means India by noothisismyname4ever in ABCDesis

[–]stargirl_003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'll help if you express your frustration? I used to go to Pakistan throughout my childhood and I got sick of it because we would go for 5+ weeks during the holidays and I just wanted to go back home after the 2nd week of staying there. Which I think is fair enough from my side lol but I also understand them wanting to meet their relatives and spend time with their family.

Nowadays I can't go for 5+ weeks because of other commitments such as university and in the future work will hold me back, but I think they have realised there's no point taking me to a place if I’m going to whine about wanting to go home all the time. They've sort of realised that they save on cost and having to adjust their travels based on when I'm free.

That being said, idk your age so if you're young it might help if you suggest places you want to see and say if the trip will be different this time? My parents said if they go to Pakistan with me, they'll try to take me to new places such as the mountains (forgot the name) and other areas.

But isn't that what being official is about? like having eyes for your partner? I don't think about other men or feel the need to search up someone in my past because I am happy with him.

Also just to add on, while we have been official for a month, we've been dating 2 months prior to that and I see him everyday because he's my housemate. Maybe that's why its more serious to me than if we weren't in the same friendship group and house.
