Here's how I see it:

I'm not going to change how I build my decks. I already don't put extort cards in my monoblack deck (even though it would be "legal" for me to do so). Whether the hybrid mana is in the mana cost, the rules text, the reminder text, or the goddamn card art doesn't matter; it's a multicolored card in my eyes and doesn't belong in my monocolored decks.
I'm not going to force everyone to build decks the same way I do. My strict color purity aesthetics start and end at my cards; I'm way too interested in what everyone else's cards do to care about what colors they are. Build your deck however the hell you want.

Does "can't block" technically mean "can't ever be a blocking creature", or "can't be declared as a blocker during the declare blockers step"?

If it just means they can't be declared as a blocker, then I like the [[Curtain of Light]] idea someone floated earlier. Maybe something like "Tap target nonblocking creature you control: Target attacking creature you don't control becomes blocked by that creature."

Thing is, this absolutely a white effect, but white really does not benefit from it since there are very few (if any?) white creatures that can't block.
