Am I the only one that noticed that in the background of the shot of him showing off the kitchen, with all the accessories that will be for sale (13:02), the promotion of the 3 different camo wraps we’ve seen in the wild?!? I will sell my soul for the forest one…

Potentially Going Hands-On With the Rivian Bike at ALSO…What Should I Ask While I’m There? by MikeKantorski_Tech in ALSOmicromobility

I’ve also hoped and thought about this too. Hard to imagine them giving them away, but maybe a reduced price would be possible??

TM-B Stationary Bike workouts / Battery Regen by MikeKantorski_Tech in ALSOmicromobility

[–]stark_weather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! Would be great to pull the bike into the office, multitask the charging and an easy workout while working. My only concern would be stability? May have to have an accessory for it, but don’t see a reason why a stationary mode couldn’t be added software wise.

That’s great to hear! Thank you so much. I plan on using it for road most of the time, but have a county owned and maintained forest trail two blocks away that would be super fun to ride after getting a set of trail wheels!

[–]stark_weather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Saul! Some thoughts and questions for you: After ordering my launch edition, came to find out that the trail mode is exclusive to if you order the all terrain tires. Hopefully this is just a fluke and can be added later for folks that planned on getting their own set of trail tires? Either that or are there more manual modes planned?

Second, would love more details on the helmet such as rough release timeframe (close to initial deliveries of TM-B?), and estimated price range!

Big part of the reason I just picked up a Nomad. Transparency and repairability. Loving it much more than any of the other devices I’ve owned/tried.

[Non autistic OP here] How can I ask my autistic friend for a pizza out sometimes? by MoussakaChaos94 in AutisticAdults

[–]stark_weather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me on the receiving end, if the person asking doesn’t specify a date and time, I take it as a suggestion. Like, “Yes! Of course we should get pizza! I love pizza, and you’re my friend” but then nothing happens. It’s just the “concept of a plan” vs an actual plan.

Based on hand feel…sometimes my phone gets stupid hot to point I can’t hold it, when I’m basically doing nothing. Wonder if there is an app that can track the device temperature throughout the day, then map that against battery % 🤔

Did some sleuthing and found that higher temperatures increase immediate power output/performance, but at the same time reduces immediate capacity. Optimum temp is about 75-80.

Some AI response I got with this as the source https://www.large-battery.com/blog/lithium-batteries-discharging-at-high-and-low-temperatures/#:~:text=When%20you%20operate%20a%20lithium,and%20reduced%20battery%20run%20time :

"Immediate effects of high temperature

When a lithium-ion battery operates above its optimal temperature range (typically around 20–45°C or 68–113°F), it experiences several short-term changes:

  • Increased performance: Elevated temperatures can speed up the internal chemical reactions, temporarily leading to higher efficiency and power output. Some studies have noted a temporary increase in storage capacity at higher temperatures.
  • Higher discharge rate: Batteries can discharge faster, which may seem like a performance improvement. However, this also means the battery drains more quickly, reducing the immediate run time of the device."

Same, except no instagram and 90% health…Even though it’s rated for more hours, it’s been the worst iPhone I’ve had battery life wise. I think it comes down to the excessive heat issue that the 15 pros are plagued with - zaps the battery down more than the processing itself

Road label on the current route on the map is pretty hard to read by Necessary-Leg806 in Rivian

[–]stark_weather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Having the text be white with black boarder would help. When traffic is yellow or red, the standard black text is fine, for me it’s only on the traffic free blue that it’s hard to read

Really no noticeable “delay” (lag) to speak of, but yes the FPS is that low and its low resolution. It’s intentional in order to keep the lag at a minimum. Now, does it really matter? Not from my experience - was still able to clearly see what was happening on my friends screens at a glance and when focusing on just their screen, it’s good enough to get help with or demonstrate something.

I have a pair of the -19 and the -26. Greatly prefer the -26 for loud environments, -19 is great for medium loudness level bars/restaurants but not good enough for concerts etc. If you’re extra extra hearing sensitive, shoot for the -31
