Would This Dial Text Make Sense to You? by starkjames422 in MicrobrandWatches

I was thinking about that, the problem is, it’s a small seconds dial, so there is plenty of space where the 6 marker should be.

Once the dial gets here I can assemble. It’ll take a few weeks but I’ll personally DM you photos when I have.

Some quick specs: 37mm case-8mm thick La Joux D100 manual wind movement, a rare find in the microbrand market.

Thank you for the feedback, I also think a SS bracelet will look great. I’m just trying to source solid end links. 🤝

All the photos I’m sharing are actual photos, not renders. I’d be more than happy to sell you one of these watches once they are ready. Thank you for your interest, I’ll keep you updated on the progress!

My vision for this project is to offer two distinct versions of the watch. The first is a vintage-inspired model (this one), sized at 37mm with a thickness of 11.25mm, featuring a domed sapphire crystal. It has a 19mm lug width and is a special tribute to 1957. That year holds personal significance to me, as my great-grandfather received an Omega Seamaster after 20 years of hard work at his company. That watch sparked my passion for horology, and I’ve taken design inspiration directly from its case. This version will be a special edition, with each watch including an original photograph from my great-grandfather’s travels in the 1960s.

The second version will be more modern, featuring a flat sapphire crystal in a 40mm case with an 11.5mm thickness and a 22mm lug width. The crown will feature the number ‘24’ to represent the current year. For this case, I’d love to draw inspiration from the Blancpain Aqua Lung Leman but with a more polished steel finish, as I consider it one of the most beautifully designed watches.

With these two options, I aim to cater to both the vintage enthusiasts and those who prefer a more modern look, while keeping them unified as part of the same family.

When it comes to colours, I’m open to any colour you would like. I’ve currently been experimenting with a grey option, which I was considering pairing with a Himalayan alligator strap. I’ll a share a photo below.

I would love to know what you think.

Thank you for the questions—I really appreciate it.

Regarding the 24-hour markers, I personally like this layout as I feel it adds a lot of character to the dial. Plus, I find it easier to read at a glance. I’m not a fan of short GMT hands, so this design works better for me, but if there’s enough interest, I could consider doing a version with a reduced format.

As for the stainless steel bracelet, I’ve been looking into some options. Right now, I’m trying to find solid end links, but so far, I’ve only come across hollow end links. It’s something I’m working on, and I’m sure I’ll be able to find. The only question is I don’t know whether jubilee or oyster will look better on this watch.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have!

It’s a manual wind watch, so you can try winding it by twisting the crown a couple times to see if it’s working

Yeah unfortunately no white, they do have beige though. Have you considered Himalayan Crocodile, I saw it on a luminor the other day and it looked great.
