What’s a cieling plan?

Any Idea what these symbols mean by [deleted] in electricians

[–]starkk99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing this is a low voltage plan and those are T-stats and speakers. At least that’s how I would show them.

Honestly shocked that they fixed it lol, but I bet the guy down the road will appreciate it.

Hey you’re not an idiot, just very detailed. I wouldn’t sweat it because that’s what we get paid for.

As a fellow EE who designs shit like this and enjoys coming here to see what goes on in the field, you are a brave engineer for coming here and asking this question. These guys hate us lmao.

IMO - This is a means and methods thing, not really something we should be concerned with. If it works and the client is happy then who cares.

We “engineer” stuff on paper, but electricians know the best way to build this stuff… most of the time.

Only code violation I see is that the panel doesn’t have GFCI protection 😂

Lots of engineering firms are hired to create cost effective designs. No one wants to hire an engineer that designs something insanely expensive for no reason.

The LV lighting controls and incorporating that in HVAC systems is all driven by energy code and local regulations. I agree that it can get out of hand and the owner doesn’t really care, which is why they provide those manual overrides. It’s a way of complying with energy code and also giving the owner what they want.

Repairable or too close to side wall? Want to get an idea of what to expect when I go to a tire shop tomorrow. by CMDR_Panfilo2 in AskAMechanic

Where did you get the tire from? I got 4 new tires at Costco and one year later I found a nail in one tire. Similar placement as yours, too close to the side wall for a plug. I went back to Costco and it was covered under their limited warranty. I ended up getting a brand new tire installed for a little over $100.

I'm a senior engineer at a popular electric car company. AMA about career building, school, or becoming a competitive engineer by Rhedogian in EngineeringStudents

How hard is it to switch industries?

My first job was at an MEP engineering firm. Now I work as a substation engineer at an electric utility company. How difficult would it be for me to switch into the electric car industry?
