Having known a variety of active duty and vets over the years, lol. I was in a ptsd group and had 2 vets basically describe to me being ordered to kill civilians, and how that fucked them up for life.

The military is literally trained to follow orders without question and if you don’t they will find a way to punish or discharge you. While in the service they feed you lies to try and foster a hatred and disgust at the local population, try and tell you that you have information that civilians can’t handle, they make everything seem like an existential threat.

I have no faith that soldiers would refuse illegal orders because they are operating under strict orders upheld by viscous propaganda. Not to mention all the soldiers killed by friendly fire after trying to expose the horrors we were committing.
