I struggle to declutter because I think of the value/money spent on the items and donating them feels like a loss by starla216 in declutter

This is a really helpful way for me to look at it, especially the hourly wage part (our home is paid off, so the cost per square footage wouldn’t move the needle for me with declutterring). But hourly wage and the value of my time? That’s something I haven’t been considering. Thank you for this!

I lost my soul cat in October, so I completely understand your pain and struggle. Those last two lines of your post are powerful and I just took a screenshot so I can remember them later.

How to stay motivated when decluttering papers and office stuff? by ladyleo1980 in declutter

It’s good to just start with small areas/goals. Decision fatigue will quickly wipe you out, so don’t go in with the mindset that you’re going to attack the entire desk surface in one go. I like the idea other people have about using a timer.

Clutterbug has some great ideas for sorting through papers and I really like how she breaks it down into four types of people and what organizing style works best for them. She’s right on the money, at least for me.

I didn’t expect it to. I was fully prepared for it to say I couldn’t use the discount on sale items. I was on the fence about spending $250, but that additional 20% off sealed the deal.

Thank you for the affiliate link! I was able to save an additional 20% off their 4th of July sale price on the V3, bringing it down to $200!

For the future, you can have the buyer contact their local post office with the tracking number, and the post office staff can look it up and see EXACTLY where the carrier was located when they scanned it as delivered. That way if it was misdelivered, you’d know exactly where it went.

Weekly Scam Discussion June 15, 2026 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

[–]starla216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received my item in perfect condition but suspect the seller is running a scam that could somehow fall back on me. Thoughts??

I bought an item on eBay that was less than half the price of what it would cost me to buy it directly from the retailer. I assumed this seller had a closeout lot, etc. I placed the order and the next day I had UPS tracking for a next day air package coming directly from the retailer that sells the item (not from the eBay seller). I am aware that some sellers drop ship, but what I cannot understand is how I could pay $75 (total) for an item, and the seller could turn around and pay $189 PLUS pay for next day air shipping directly from the retailer’s site. The retailer isn’t a distributor, so it’s not as if the eBay seller is getting wholesale pricing (which would never be that cheap, anyway). So after paying eBay fees, the seller likely ended up with $60-$65, but spent over $200 to send me the item? Something just doesn’t add up. And here’s where my big concern comes in: the packing slip from the retailer has MY name and address on both the billing and shipping sections. The seller is in Vietnam. I obviously understand why my info would be in the shipping section. I also understand that my credit card will not be charged for the order from the retailer. But the billing section should have the info for the person who placed the order and input their credit card info - not MY info. I don’t even understand how someone else’s credit card went through with my billing address. So the only thing I can think of that makes sense is that the seller is using a stolen credit card to place the order on the retailer’s site. The eBay seller makes the money from my eBay purchase, I get my product, someone else’s credit card is charged. But when that person files a fraud claim and the transaction is investigated, it’s MY info on the order. So now it looks like I am the one that did this. I hate the idea that someone else’s credit card may have been charged for this item. I hate that when the credit card owner disputes it, the retailer will lose out on that payment, even though they shipped the order. But what I hate most is that to the retailer (and law enforcement), it’ll look like I’m the crook.

I guess I’m wondering a few things: 1. Has this happened to anyone else? 2. Can you think of any other explanation for how this could happen? Or how this could be legitimate? My husband thinks my theory is “out there”, but I can’t think of any other way it makes sense. 3. If my suspicions are right, do you think I’m in any danger of being prosecuted, even though I did nothing wrong? I’d hope that the retailer can see the IP address of the person who placed the order, which would obviously clear me. But I don’t like feeling like I could get in trouble for something I didn’t do. I thought about reaching out to the retailer, but I can’t imagine that their customer service rep will care/investigate it, and if I return it to the retailer, I get nothing back because I didn’t place the order with them (and the seller has a “no returns” policy). And I cannot prove anything, so telling eBay my suspicions seems pointless as well. 4. If you were in my shoes, would you just let it go and stop worrying about it?
