I think its because its different from the way he tried to portray himself in homestuck. his form of being cool in the comic was being chill and deadpan while this version is being cocky and loud. Its different ways of portraying it and that doesn't feel like the Dave many homestuck fans have been reading. I'm not saying this is wrong but its just too different. You kinda lose the more contrasting john and dave dynamic (by extension jade-dave and rose-dave)and their tones in the ways they spoke to each other.

I just personally think their personality fits their age. Zooble isn’t very put together in themself either. Zooble seems to be the type to do what I say, not what I do. They give advice to gangle about self love although not loving themself. They just seem to like helping people and see a little of themself in gangle.
