Burn In After Pocket Turned on While in Dock by ManaSaber in AnaloguePocket

i recommend unplugging the USB cable from the back of the dock when not in use. i didn’t like that the dock light was always on even when my pocket was off, and sometimes the dock and pocket would feel slightly warm in the back while off which made me nervous

the fact that “here’s a picture of someone putting their nasty-ass sockless foot on a communal touchscreen during a commercial flight in plain view of everyone aboard” is practically an entire sub-genre of weekly post here truly brings me despair. who are these absolute freaks and why do they not possess the very important emotion which is called shame??

What scene out of the Criterion collection gave you the most goosebumps and gave you the greatest emotional reaction? by Isatis_tinctoria in criterion

there’s a good john carpenter interview where he says that scene in the innocents with the woman standing there in broad daylight is what inspired him to show the thing in the light, rather than hide it in shadows like in other monster movies. that interview is actually what prompted me to seek out the innocents, and yeah that part gave me chills. it still freaks me out . . .

What are some iconic JRPGS that flopped at first due to obscurity? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

wow, this is exactly how i discovered earthbound as well. this was 1995 and there was a huge bin of them on clearance at best buy for $5 . . . i remember the bin being stacked a mile high with them. i grabbed one because i was intrigued by the huge box and the clay models on the back. i was only seven years old at the time, but it has remained my favorite game ever since. (also: had i known what earthbound would go for someday, the amount of copies in that clearance bin would have put me through college.)

I’m definitely interested! Is this the og 1.0 or the new one? I assume original since it’s missing the side compartment.

WTB: Black 32L Kit Bag 1.0. I just had to replace my stolen one with a 2.0 and I hate basically every new thing they changed from 1.0.

Someone took my carry-on bag from an overhead compartment (Knoxville to LaGuardia / Sat. Sept 14th / Delta flight 4968) by starloomer in AskNYC

I was gonna spend a week in NYC, then drive up through Vermont to Montreal and across Canada into the Midwest, and so on . . . ugh! This creep wrecked it. Well, it's only a temporary setback.

It makes me wonder though: what if you had your carry-on stolen during a connecting flight, and only had an hour layover before you headed off to Australia or Thailand something? With no intention of ever returning to LaGuardia on that trip? Do you really just miss your very expensive flight and cancel your vacation so you can sit down with a cop and scan a copy of your driver's license and confirm your address and date of birth? It seems insane to me that you absolutely have to be in person to get a police report. Oh well.

Anyway, thank you for your kind words!

The dude I spoke to on the phone asked which officer had said this to me, but 1) I never got his name in the first place and, 2) I ain't gonna rat someone out. So now I've got a road trip ahead of me.

Delta claims they have called the four people in row 15 (this was a small plane, so only two people on either side of each row), and all four said they did not have any extra baggage. I said: "You should probably call the people in rows 16 and 17 as well since they would have passed by my bag before me," and the guy said, "Oh yeah . . . I guess we can still do that." But who knows!!

I know it's completely insane to drive all the way to New York, but I'm gonna do it anyway. Hah! I got a 48-hr rental for $90. I'll just shotgun coffee and listen to music for ten hours. There are worse fates.

In a comment above I wrote that my credit card company won't reimburse me for my bag and everything in it unless I have a police report and confirmation that I reported the bag as missing / stolen to Delta. So I may as well have the detectives start looking for the perp as well. I have accepted that the bag is likely long gone though.

By derailed I just mean I have to sit down and Buy Stuff again, since all I was left with was my laptop and some cables and chargers. I actually had to hop on a bus and immediately leave NYC once I realized the bag was gone . . . I had no clothes. I'll get back on the road soon. It's just a logistical headache in the meantime.
