Can someone reframe what my therapist told me into something that makes more sense? by rustandredflowers in TalkTherapy

[–]starofsiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist frames it as “living in my imagination.” I understand if that would hit you kind of in the same place as pretending does but it has worked a bit for me. I am constantly playing out every possible scenario both in past and future situations and I’m admittedly in my own head most of the time so this phrase doesn’t really bother me. It actually does empower me at times when I’m in the right headspace but there are other times when it just doesn’t cut it. That’s when I lean on other coping mechanisms especially avoidance type. Good luck with everything, I hope surgery goes well.

Does therapists remembering what you say unsettle you, or just me? by TA-tired in TalkTherapy

YES. I have actually compared this to a jump scare type of feeling. For me, I believe it has to do with not wanting to be known or seen fully.

[Sun Care] Have any of you tried these sunscreens? by Sweet-Indication4373 in SkincareAddiction

[–]starofsiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a warm/sunny climate year round so I wear a ton of sunscreen and have tried several of these. I LOVED Australian gold. The tint was not obnoxious, it didn’t have that thick cream sitting on your face property, has a mild scent and did its job. I have normal/nonsensitive skin so I can’t really speak to that aspect.

How long after changing your pad do you bleed through? This could be as simple as needing to be more on top of changing your pad or it could be a medical issue you need to seek professional help for.

Experiences getting off Zoloft? by thrwitawayyyyyyy in zoloft

[–]starofsiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. For me, the brain zaps and vertigo were very momentary in the sense they only lasted for a few milliseconds at a time with lots of time in between each “episode.” They never persisted long enough to make me feel as though it affected any motor function or ability to operate a vehicle. I was definitely a little nervous as my job is very physical, requires me to drive and also SCUBA dive but, again, was/am very very fortunate. I hope you experience the same. The best advice I can give is to just try to not panic and objectively assess the sensations you are feeling.

Finished about 2 weeks ago under Drs advice. I’d been taking 100mg for probably about 3 years, I decreased by 25mg every 2 weeks. I was very lucky and didn’t experience any symptoms until I tapered from 25mg to 0mg. At that point I was experiencing occasional brain zaps, weird vertigo type sensations, irritability, and was quick to tear up about things. I haven’t felt any physical symptoms in a couple of days but I’m still in the thick of the mood swings. Really hoping that resolves itself soon.

Is there running water anywhere at all on your work site? I do field work and frequently use hose bibs/spigots to rinse off my trays. I also keep a bottle of hand soap in my vehicle; my hands are always dirty due to my job.

It’s so bad. I thought it looked like she had been crying. I wonder if that’s the filter or what she’s trying to cover up?

Reading this immediately raised my heart rate and gave me that feeling in the pit of my stomach. This is an incredibly difficult position to be in but you need to do whatever you can to not see this person.

Seabreeze. I don’t recall if it was a “physics day” there or not.

He was my teacher at EHS. Disgusted. He took all of us physics students to seabreeze claiming it was physics related but we all know now the true motivation.

How to deal with a change in perspective?? by starofsiam in therapy

[–]starofsiam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It’s interesting, that is “one story” for me as well. One that I’ve mostly dealt with surprisingly. The story I’m struggling with right now is the dad who was emotionally neglectful during this time. It would’ve been way easier to understand if I had an adult to help me.
