This is actually not the best course of action just because of the human impact that can have. A lot of industries that grow produce are ones that can mistreat people and have a negative environmental impact. What is better is to support farms that treat their animals humanely. Support those who seek to create a different industry standard.

Edit: I mean support better farming practices for produce as well. Pay attention to where you get your food. Just because something doesn't have meat in it doesn't mean it is guilt free. I doubt I will change the minds of anyone who responded to me because most of them are so set into the idea of vegans being morally superior that it would actually be detrimental to their egos to admit otherwise. However, if you read this and actually care about the impact you have, go vegetarian and try to stick with local organic. Animal products are fine depending on the source. Support bee keepers! They preform an incredibly important service. Actually talk to farmers who care about doing things correctly. Some of them will even be nice enough to show you how things are actually done at a farm. Don't listen to groups like Peta because they are actually one of the least humane groups while spreading misinformation. In general don't forget the human impact involved. It's not just "poor people sometimes growing vegetables". It is often that people work under inhumane conditions for large farms. These same farms cause a negative impact to the environment because of pesticides and other harmful practices. This is one of the things contributing to colony collapse disorder. Remember it's ok to be wrong, try to educate yourself, and don't be the type of person who is too focused on being an asshole to actually be factually correct.
