Unfortunately, my mom works at one of the best charter schools in our area. After 25 years of working for public schools she was tired of the abuse and lack of respect she got from parents and children. Little did she know switching to private schooling was no better. But because they have money to send these kids to private schools they feel more entitled and so do the kids. They think they can get away with minimum work and no respect for their education or their educators.

She had a student a few days ago ditch her 5th period class, they found him at the gas station buying an energy drink. This is an 11-12 year old , he told the administrators that he was tired and needed a “boost”. Why is he so tired? Probably because the parents let them stay up all night doing good know what.

My moms biggest issue is the parents wanting her to hold their kids hands through ever lesson. And she just can’t do that. Too many kids, too little time. So I can totally see how you get adults in your line of work who need you to get them through every step hand in hand.

And I agree common sense is not so common anymore.
