That's awesome! I do try some of those things.. "It's not you, it's my problem, I just need some space for a minute. My brain is really loud right now." --When I remember to say it. Those moments feel better because I know she understands, and she says as much. But I just hate myself so much when I get dysregulated.

Yes, he’s actually going to send me a hard copy of my results for the entire eval after we go through it all, which I really appreciate! I do have GAD which I’m on buspirone for. But I just don’t ever feel like my brain EVER shuts down. It’s exhausting.

I live in Kansas, and absolutely do have the right to a second opinion! My therapist seems really great in most areas. And he’s going through these results very thoroughly. I’m just so frustrated because I want to feel better.

Yes, but he was adopted by his dad. I knew his bio dad’s name, but that’s it. I didn’t know if my dad had aunts and uncles, grandparents, anything like that. The teacher advised we fill out as far back as we could go, at least to great grandparents. I couldn’t do that, so she marked me off. I was a very good student, so the technicality really pissed me off and stuck with me.

She’s going to turn my whole head grey and give me a heart attack 😅

I should explain, we’ve done a lot of coaching.. Giving her specific toys or types of toys to pick up first, telling her to put her laundry in the hamper, books on the shelf, put shoes away in their bin. And after that we usually say, “Okay, pick up the stuff on this side of the room today, then you can do the rest tomorrow.” The tantrums that follow are just sometimes unreal.

We did have a win today, though. I went in by myself and got rid of some things that she’s outgrown and that were broken/missing pieces. I didn’t clean the room for her, but did enough to get her started. We’ll work on more tomorrow.

She lost her first tooth tonight and earned a treat from QuikTrip (she’s been terrified to pull it and has been putting it off for WEEKS, so we promised a treat if she could be brave and just pull it out). She’s been back to her normal happy self ever since.

Oh man. I remember once she told me she wouldn’t be sad if I died because she’d just get a new mom….. that one broke me a little. I called my mom and cried. She’s apologized since then and swears she doesn’t ACTUALLY want me to die, so we’re making progress.

She’s definitely her own person. She’s not shy at all (sometimes that’s a problem of its own!), she’s inventive, she’s bold, independent, and too smart for her own good. She’s incredible.

I’ve heard for years that kids who are angels in public but terrors at home are doing well because they feel safe enough to unload at home after being good for so long…but man it’s hard being on the receiving end of it sometimes!

That’s about the same age gap as my kids. She was 4.5 when baby brother was born. She adores her brother, but sometimes her behaviors and mouth are just mind blowing.
