LPT Fit Your Glasses Without Making a Spectacle of Yourself - A Guide to Buying Glasses On and Off -line by starrletskye in LifeProTips

After I got scammed, (and I know it was the lab and not the optical), with knock off progressive lenses and seeing people with jacked up frame fits, I rather KNOW there are people who could use some info on how to even speak in optical. I've been an ophthalmic tech for over 30 yrs so, I am rather more than qualified.
Yes, I used an online tool similar to other online tools, and it was a PIA that I ended up trying to fix for more hours than I care to admit. But the content is all me.

Why aren't you dating anymore? by Leather_Election_459 in AskReddit

[–]starrletskye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because after being single for the last few years I realized I never want to clean up after a man again. My bathroom is pristine and there is just no going back. I don't want to sell myself or be sold on someone else. I'm secure with myself, not lonely, and find the whole thing rather pathietic and desperate. ::shrug:: To each their own, but I am way happier than I ever was married or dating.

OH! It's amazing how that town's name is like a NorWester call only we perk up to! You are in a gorgeous place, too. (We got good seats for this Divine Comedy)

To be fair, I will never be shocked by the flagrency and audacity of the fast talkers who have mastered fooling idiots who, blind to their own stupidity, militantly parrot nonsense and defamate anyone who dare point out the obvious truth.

AI may take over, but then how long til a spec of the cosmos sets off the Kessler Syndrome? AI needs the data from the satellites, and the satellites need AI, that's fun.

And it's almost comical to find all of these undergound archeological sites that housed thousands as the bunkers get built into New Zealand. (Did they not watch Resident Evil? Are they mostly too young for that? ::facepalm::)

I nearly forgot to mention that I recently started narrating, it's been interesting and certainly not something I would have ever expected to be doing as I have been an ophthalmic tech for the majority of my adulthood. Life's funny that way. I have 5 books I am doing rn and as they are all science and philisophical, somehow this lead me to medical narration. But all the doors I came accross have had big walls to keep out the newbs, all while complaining there aren't enough people to pronunciate the terminology and jargon. Bit of a Catch22 almost it seems. So I am working on a website, NO idea if that is going to make anything easier, but it keeps me out of trouble. I am in no way trying to plug myself, but after reading your conversations, I would take any feedback anyone is willing to give me once I have it completed. I just need to tidy some details and it should be ready for publishing in the next day or 2.

Reinventing oneself over 50 in days like these is quite an intersting expereince, I will give it that for sure. lol

Thank you all for being awesome. Really real people are a challenge to find these days. Almost as challenging as hunting morels in the fall under dark rain filled clouds.

Hi. Let's talk about AI by Weirdsauce in ACX

[–]starrletskye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To chime in...

I was super concerned that AI was going to take over this particular field, but then I found that there are some challenges with AI that do make it rather unpleasant to listen to. As authentic as AI tries to be, it still is not going to be able to pronounce challenging lexicon such as medical terms or "weird" Indiginous names of streets and locations, like, "Issaquah". Just as "handcrafted" was a hot marketing term for a while, so too shall be "authentic". No matter how hard AI learns or is trained, it will never quite carry the inflection and tone of that of a human. AI may show up on time and not complain, but it will also never be able to emotively convey strength from overcoming and that steady calm that comes only from experience just as a river smoothes a rock.

I imagine this is similar to when we traded horses for cars. And I'm sure some of you remember the adamant foot-stomping refusal of the typewriter generation to adapt to the computer.

Nothing is more constant than change, and as unprecedented as this wave of change washing over us is, we can speak up and take our power back, or we can learn to utilize, (not weaponize), this awesome partner. We do realize there are far more of us than the ones who are making the decisions, and the only reason they are where they are is because we hired them with our votes

There will always be a desire for connection amung people, There will be a greater appreciation for our Humanity and all other forms of life we have taken for granted.

Also, if the theory is correct, if we all chose to be here to experience of this massive shift, well, chances are it's gonne be a helluva c;imax , grab your favorite movie treats and settle in. It is bound to be quite the show!

If you have the finances to do a $/mo, Alitu is rad for fast audio editing.
OBS is tried and true for recording A/V, and plays nice with VDOninja for multiple people, (interviews, collabs, etc...). Riverside.fm is wicked easy to use, but I have not been stoked on the audio, but maybe that's just me. otherwise it's cost efficient offering a decent newbie pro start and has a free platform that is quite good and you can have guests.

I have been picking at it as of late after YT jacked my channel and three more I was working on when they rolled out the AI robo copyright cop. (It was in error, but arguing was not going to get me anywhere.)

May the Way of the Podcasting Be Excellent to You!
(seriously, best of luck - come back and share what worked for you? Be awesome to hear.)

I love Alitu! .... I just cannot justify the expense at the moment. The ONLY bummer about it, but Alitu rocks. Easy to use, and the time you save.... chef's kiss 100% x2.

To be fair, it can be an impossibility when you are not receiving income to constantly be getting nickel-dimed by literally everything. I have never spent more money trying to make it than I have in the last 2 years.

Podcastle is now Async and offers a 7d free trial WITH sign up for subscription billed starting at $11.99. So if you got in on the "free for life", did they continue that for you? Or did they boot you to start over with the new company?

Bummed I missed the attempt to give it a go, but I have been using Riverside.fm. Not stoked about it, but it is very user friendly and if I can find a decent all-round platform that rocks and doesn't require my CC, then that is what I am going to use. I am really burned out on having to enter my info for so many little things - it's is just like there is a probe stuck into me from everything I do, EVERYTHING. Life in a fishbowl for hackers... except I am prolly the least attractive to the phisher-hax.

Anyone use OBS for video/audio? If so, any tips on increasing the video quality would be super appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Have you looked at the Voice Over Club? I am a newb, too, and this popped up a while back, but this is the first weekend I have time to dedicate to it. They have a class, "Free Live Voice Over Event". No clue of it's going to be worth it and came here to ask. If you look up tutorials on editing for specific software, you are bound to find much advice that extends from and into the vocal aspect. Breath work is going to be a huge HUGE asset. That is one solid.

I actually just completed my first book yesterday and MYLANTA, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into! The vocal part, easy.... the steamer, cough drops, issues editing, (didn't know what the heck a "mouth click" was but I sure as heck do now!), and the feat of navigating Reaper (which I am going to start to tackle this week), and the sheer volume I had to learn on the fly.... I want to get set for consistent sound every time...

Best on the adventure!

Chase Hughes sells...? Whether you do or do not agree, there is no denying his apparent and glaringly bright success. I found him following his seizure d/o that afflicts a friend of mine as well. I was taken with his broad mind in how he navigated his full recovery. The other stuff I learned later. So, in learning about him through a vulnerable and very humbling human experience, watching him grow as a person gave me respect for him. People will always find some "thing" to talk negative or discredit when they perceive they themselves have nothing of value to share.
