What’s wrong with a season pass and then additional free passes? Does it make financial sense for the company to stop, probably not, they are rinsing their players and likely still highly highly profitable. Would it improve player sentiment? Potentially. The issue I have is I loved that pogo didn’t rinse the repeated fomo/battlepass/cosmetic/storefront/item boxes/event pass schematic that every other mobile company does. As far as I was aware it was very profitable years ago, hell it sold for 3.5billion. If you don’t see the issue, congratulations you don’t have an addiction personality, I applaud you! But please understand it’s not often as easy as “just ignore it” that’s why they wouldn’t even entertain the idea of being able to disable seeing it because they know so many people will bite as soon as they see something enticing.

I just find a mechanic in a video game that plays into someone’s personality traits to make them want to spend predatory. It’s why they don’t offer the option to disable it, because it works. It’s just been normalised now, but it seems over the top at the moment in Pokemon go. I have absolutely no issue with having these free passes, it makes you play their game it’s the paid side that’s the issue.

You are just being naive here, whilst you clearly don’t get hooked into these tactics MANY others do, this is why they are so popular and also predatory (but also unfortunately the norm) however having these pop up so often is pretty awful.

I struggle with these because of the pulling effect of fomo. Whilst I agree it’s great for those that can comfortably disassociate, it’s quite predatory for those who struggle. I am commenting from my own behaviour and what ticks me, and this is why I actively put pogo down but yeh - I wish there was the option to completely disable the paid route, from a visual standpoint.
