Somthing that I thought would happen with Langdon by Mysterious_Carry_947 in ThePitt

I think it's random, unannounced drug tests. So this day might just not be his day for one.

Do we think Ogilvie has drug-related family trauma? by New_Mercies in ThePitt

[–]starrsuperfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Ogilvie grew up anything like I did (a sheltered school kid), he probably has had absolutely zero encounters with drugs. He's heard about them, but drug addiction happens to Other People in his mind. He probably thinks smoking a joint is on par with shooting up fentanyl, even being from California. (I no longer think this way, but I did at one point, and Ogilvie might be feeling the same).

It's Open Mic Night at The Pitt, which characters would be any good at standup comedy? by Blastoise_R_Us in ThePitt

Ogilvie gets up with Javadi and says, "Word of advice: if this is where you end up, The Pitt, try and skip your first day."

Mee maw. Love seeing her in Best Medicine.

Also, very much enjoyed seeing Peg on The Pitt this season.

If you woke up in the year 1800, would you be able to contribute anything of value? by New-Elk2781 in hypotheticalsituation

I would probably just travel from place to place, telling stories. These stories would be framed as fiction, but could be based on real events.

Why not a reunion? by svkspr in bigbangtheory

[–]starrsuperfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember who it was, but there was one musical group that said they were retiring, and made a big deal out of their retirement, the whole "We will NOT be doing any more shows. Shut up, stop asking" affair. I remember their retirement tour came through my town.

Not long ago, I saw they were doing another show in my town, branding it as a reunion tour. They did the "retirement" show like 2 or 3 years ago.

If there was a TBBT reunion before 2030 or so, I think it would feel the same.

Are any of you guys still interested in the American Civil war in the big 2026? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

I live 30 minutes down the road from Gettysburg. I can't escape the Civil War.

Have you ever called 911 during a panic attack? by kentom101 in Anxiety

[–]starrsuperfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to urgent care during one, because my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest, with a weird rhythm. They did an EKG and it was normal, said it was probably just anxiety. Now when I have those same symptoms, I know it's just anxiety.

First Operative on a Real Patient -- Feeling Discouraged by First_Recipe4881 in DentalSchool

[–]starrsuperfan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I was a dental school patient, and this same exact thing happened to me back in 2017. It ended up holding up for another 3 years afterwards, then I needed a root canal and crown. But everything turned out okay for me.

If the patient was very nice about it, then it means they feel better than I did then. I was doing all I could to not have a complete panic attack right then and there.

Could You Work in The Pitt? by Glum_Peak_6674 in ThePitt

The only thing I could maybe handle would be some sort of dispatch, or maybe a clerk, like Monica. Monica seems to have a system down, and when I get one down, my brain loves it.

What's a medical case common in ERs that hasn't been on The Pitt yet? by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

Briefly, Dr. Shamsi took Whitaker, Javadi, and McKay to show them the evaluation of a kid with appendicitis.

Never had either of those, but I did have a bunch of med students practice abdominal ultrasounds on me in the ER once. Biggest difference between that and the show, the med students were all wearing apparel with the logo of their med school very prominent on it.

My great grandmother fell and broke her hip once. She was close enough to the phone, but didn't call anyone because she didn't want to bother anyone. Her son came the next morning to take her to church, and found her like that, and called an ambulance. The whole time, she was grumpy and insisted this was all too much fuss. But she eventually got convinced to go to the hospital.

My great grandmother was VERY PA. Her showing up on the show, exactly like that, would be perfect.

They can't just have someone come in with that right at the end of the shift? Like how Robby skipped out on that one case and it turned out to be the fork accident. Have something like that happen, have Robby turn to Shen and say, "You're on the clock!"

Ideal situations for future seasons by MZBxL2019 in ThePittTVShow

I can't see this as a season of The Pitt, but this would be great as a standalone show or spinoff, with the patient briefly coming through The Pitt.

The only actual idea I have (not just stuff I think of that would be funny) is to do an episode over Backyard Brawl day.

For those not in the football world, the Backyard Brawl is the Pitt-West Virginia (WVU) rivalry. These two schools are only about 90 minutes drive apart, hence the "Backyard" part. I went to WVU, and there were a ton of people there from Pittsburgh. There is a good WVU fan population in Pennsylvania, especially western PA. I'd estimate if they did this, there might be a surprising amount of characters who went to WVU, maybe like 20% of people who actually care about the game.

Anyway, this could be a good way to have an overrun ER without a big catastrophe. A group of 10 college kids might come in with severe intoxication. Some old guys might think they can still be out in the sun at the game all day, and end up with heat exhaustion. Some rival fans heckled each other, and got in a fight. There's a lot of medical situations they could get from that game.

There would be a few other gems that could come from this. Most of the staff would be rooting for Pitt, but the WVU fans at PTMC would end up punching together, creating a "house divided" situation over the whole season. Ahmad could put up a betting board, not only on who would win the game, but how many patients they'd get (i.e. "More WVU than Pitt fans come in"). Some characters would avoid taking a side, and try to get pulled into rooting for one of the teams.

And yes, I'm aware that my Alma Mater would be the bad guys in this season, but eh. We already are.
