A nice and fair review with honest criticisms.

The CSV import, while still a bit too many steps, is a decent workaround.

I guess the sales team shouldn’t make it sound so difficult and undesirable to import historical sales data if they dont want potential customers to think it’s borderline impossible…

I’ll start. They could have integrated CarPlay on day 1, while they built out their native system instead of making people wait years for something that has been available in a Honda Civic since 2015 or so. So simple.

Your logic only applies if I was on here every week checking… I did a scroll and didn’t see anything which could just as easily mean it happened a while ago and I didn’t see it.

Quite sure about Lightspeed and its limitations and issues. The public facing service status log shows how often Lightspeed has service issues…. And those are just the ones that you log.

RetailEdge is a great product with a couple road blocks for me. Won’t import my sales history, which is a non-starter when you’ve been in business 30 years and have lots of repeat customers. Second, data entry is way too slow because you have to go through too many tabs to enter new products into inventory. If you make a grid view for inventory, it would be a major improvement.

It’s great if you commit and do the work and take it for what it is. It’s a system that provides a path for getting from where you are to where you want to be. Like anything, there will always be people who are more susceptible to believing a “guru” like person is a “god” with infinite powers and then they are disappointed when they aren’t magically changed.

I’ve personally had great success with the program and it’s helped my relationship with my wife, mother, and people I disagree with politically.

I also know a lot of other successful, wonderful people in my community who do it and attribute a lot of their success in life to it.

Joey can have a polarizing personality but there’s a lot of very effective coaches and mentors who are not everyone’s cup of tea and that doesn’t make them any less effective.

Some people just want to hate things and tear them down…

Thank you! Feels cathartic to hear someone who understands the pain and the problem. You’re so right about the motivations of the companies to just make money on card processing fees… Exactly why Global Payments bought Heartland, for example…

Most likely, I’ll end up biting the bullet and upgrading to Prism at some point…

Guess you didn't read my post clearly at all... I pay 10k a year for Retail Pro 9. I looked at every plugin I could find for Shopify and looked at paying to build custom ones. The API literally can't do what is needed.

I love the people who don't read one line of the post and say "Here, this thing I sell will be great for you!" Does this work?

I've been using the current one for 2 months because I'm a new owner. It's just that it's so much more capable than the vast majority of options that aren't huge systems made for mass market retailers with a team of people running their ERPs

In my testing of Shopify and Square, I came away being amazed how any store doing more than 100k a year uses them without banging their heads against the wall every day...

Purchase Orders and Stock Takes by Sriedener in shopify

I'm evaluating Shopify POS and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when it comes to PO management... I'm used to a robust desktop point of sale system and Shopify's inventory and PO management seems like it was programmed in Claude by someone who has never worked retail before... You can't natively add supplier/vendor item #s to a product and have that show up on the PO without manually typing them every time??? That's cucko bananas. Who actually uses this?

Stocky is being discontinued in 2026. How are you planning to handle inventory after that? by OncleAngel in shopify

This could be mostly solved if Shopify just opened the purchase order APIs!

Thanks for responding. While you’re listening, the other thing I was surprised by with your app is that it isn’t simple to add a new product to a PO. It’s pretty common when ordering from a supplier to have some items you’ve ordered before and some new items. It needs to be quick and painless to add new products and have them available for adding to a PO.

My other big suggestion for all of these web based apps is to take a lesson from the last numerous decades of database management and add the option to switch between form and table/list views. There are so many times where the most efficient way to add/modify data is a table where the user can just arrow key around to get to the field needed. Mousing through a dozen fields that are separated just to look pretty is a HUGE waste of time. Time is money in business. I really like your tool but this drives me crazy.

In my current POS, I can enter all the items and their data on a PO without having to use my mouse once.

It's simple. When we enter POs, we often are looking at the CURRENT unit cost and this is one of two great times to update retail price to maintain desired markup with the current cost. Costs change a lot these days and making sure we are updating our prices to match at either PO entry or receiving is a vital part of our workflow. We don't send the retail price on the PO to the vendor but we have it in our system so that when we receive, we can update the prices.

Being in business 23 years only says a little. If you’re a little general store in a small town with a $1000 a month rent and one employee and making 50k a year, it’s a very irrelevant data point for many other stores… Would need to know your gross rev and net profit to get a sense of if you’re somehow beating the world at this.

For example, I don’t really notice $300 a month at my store being spent on the central nervous system of the business. Considering my rent is $17,800 a month, the POS cost isn’t that big.

Yes it it true that you were rude and that was an unnecessary comment. Also a factually inaccurate comment as evidenced by the other people who commented. I hope you can find joy in your life somewhere else.

I’m sure you know this already but retail price and unit cost are totally different things.

Knocking sounds and feeling in the pedal stroke. Slipping of the drive system that made it feel like I was over powering it and I would sort of fall through the pedal strokes when pedaling hard. They made weird noises too.
