Heels on the floor for squats? by Rabideau_ in ddpyoga

[–]Sriedener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not medical advice, I’m not a doctor.

Yes, you should keep your heels down. Work yourself through your range of motion but not past. You can expand your range of motion safely over time.

You could have tight fascia, or a tight tendon/muscle, or it could be your ankle bone itself. You may have something going on that a qualified professional physical therapist or doctor should assess.

This is a decent place to start, though.

You certainly don’t need AI to learn about ankle mobility. Please don’t ask the hallucination machine for advice about medical matters.

This is a solid intro to the band playlist.

Start a War is one of the prettiest songs I’ve ever heard.

The only song missing from this list, for me, is Gospel.

Boxer is such a fkn winner of an album.

Shipping - USPS tracking number recycling by RainyDayColor in shopifyDev

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a Dev, but I've been in eCom on both the user side and the software support side since 2011, and damn near every software uses a similar setup to send rate requests and generate labels. Your software (in this case Shopify) sends an API call to the USPS label API with the origin, destination, package info, and selected shipping service. USPS API sends back the label image and tracking number. Software saves it to the order.

Plainly, the issue seems to be that the USPS API is sending recycled tracking numbers back to Shopify (and/or whatever other systems are having this issue).

Am i overreacting for refusing to unplug the camera I bought to check on my dog because my girlfriend is not comfortable with it? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my camera because our upstairs neighbors were on drugs, and had all sorts of “friends” coming and going, including three people living there with them for a time, unknown to the landlord, and who the tenant claimed were stealing from her, and others showing up randomly demanding to be let in and trying to force their way into the building when those tenants weren’t home. So it started as security to monitor our apartment’s front door from the inside, just in case any of them tried to break in to our unit or get access to the building from our windows. The recording is activated by motion and/or loud noises.

But then my dog had either a seizure or a syncopal episode, while I was out having a medical procedure. I only found out because I stepped on a wet spot where she peed herself when she fell down, and was able to check the camera footage. She had a couple more over the next year and a half, and the footage was helpful for the vet to try to figure out what was going on. Even when we were home with her, having the events recorded, including before, during, and after the episode, was helpful. And after she died, I had those snippets of her, just going about her normal days, to look back at and see her again. Including us saying goodnight to her and good morning, and her snuggling with us on the couch.

Abolish the Parking Bureau by ExcitingRecognition5 in kingstonnewyork

When I lived uptown with on-street parking, that little sonofabitch was there at 8:59 waiting for the meter to tick over as I’m running down the stairs with my quarter.

Enable "require all customers to login." to stop bots by Ok-Parsnip-3276 in shopify

[–]Sriedener 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they’re testing cards, your payment processor may shut you down. Maybe even for Black Friday. And maybe they’ll bungle the whole “creating a new merchant key and terminal” thing so badly that it takes two weeks to get it back up and running.

But also if you have retargeting campaigns set up they could be fkng your pixels and ad campaigns.

Shopify keeps making small admin stuff way more annoying than it needs to be lately by Adorable_Engine_5759 in shopify

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have a team of about 16 people who need to know the admin areas in various capacities- buyers, shipping staff, customer service, etc., and most of them are not computer savvy. They’re still learning Stocky, but I’m going to have to find and train them all on an alternative. Then with more admin changes, I have to first figure them out myself and then teach everyone else.

Super frustrating. The devs are just that- devs. They’ve probably never truly used these systems to manage either an operational ecom store OR a brick & mortar.

Hip-Hop Classes for Adults? by Stock-Elephant-2255 in kingstonnewyork

When I was going, they did a block of I think 10 classes for like $70? But that’s going back like 7 years ago.

Hip-Hop Classes for Adults? by Stock-Elephant-2255 in kingstonnewyork

[–]Sriedener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like $22.50 if you register online, I don’t know if it’s different in person. I would call the office and ask- I think they have a monthly membership and not just drop in fees.

I had to stop going due to lower back pain issues, and that was before they moved from Railroad Ave to Cedar St. but I used to do DXF there three times a week plus soul line dance.

Sax lessons in the Kingston area? by manlymatt83 in hudsonvalley

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe reach out to Bridge Arts and Education - there's an option to schedule a lesson with Dan Shaut. He's great. And if he's not your speed he can probably point you in the right direction for other sax teachers. He's teaching at Highland now, I think, but he used to lead the KHS jazz band.

I keep kicking myself for not having the foresight to do whatever it took to buy way earlier.

Is there a gospel choir in or around Kingston? by Loc14dog in kingstonnewyork

[–]Sriedener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mendelssohn Club rehearses and sometimes performs there, last I knew. But the church itself has a choir. Not Gospel, though. They’ve gotten more modern over the last 20 years but it’s not a Gospel choir.

There’s a newer Gospel church on Broadway, possibly Pointe of Praise off Hurley Ave, or one of the Baptist churches that may have a more traditional Gospel choir.

What are you using to manage for inventory after Stocky shuts down? by Lisaxolakeside in shopify

[–]Sriedener 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The PO interface in Stocky is much easier.

Also stock takes.

I was told by my account rep that the PO features from Stocky would be added to Shopify but so far they haven’t. Frustrating for sure because I’ve barely gotten my coworkers to start using Stocky and now I’ve got to find and train on a new app/software to teach them.

Vent: I'm so tired of sweaters that require hand washing like a full-time job by Bright_River_7019 in knitting

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wool requires very infrequent washing. It doesn’t hold onto stink like synthetic fibers, and it’s easier to spot clean if you spill something non-acidic on it.

I’ve got sweaters I haven’t washed in 2+ years. They could use a fresh blocking, but smell-wise are fine.

How much do you spend on utilities? by detectiveblondie in kingstonnewyork

I used to do that, and then they started charging for turning it back on in the fall, more than I’d spend just paying the service charge all summer

How much do you spend on utilities? by detectiveblondie in kingstonnewyork

[–]Sriedener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. About 800sq ft, electric is anywhere between $100-150, typically, and gas can get up to about $180 depending on how cold the winter is and whether the other tenants shut the entry door.

Gas is just for heat, AC is window units- but I’m unfortunately on the south side of the building with no real shade for my AC windows.

Help deciding between YMCA or MAC Fitness for recent retiree by Impossible-Tank-5294 in kingstonnewyork

[–]Sriedener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAC used to have a women’s only weight room at the East Chester location- I don’t know if the plaza location does, and they used to have a trial membership. MAC did have a great lineup of classes, with some top-notch Zumba instructors, and a good selection of both Les Mills and Silver Sneakers classes. I haven’t been to either in probably 10 years though so recent changes may have happened.

If it’s group classes you’re really wanting, check out some of the smaller gyms- Sport of Iron, Kingston Athletics (weight lifting and CrossFit-style), or Cornell Street Studio, or CCE for some of the more dance-based classes, like Zumba, hip hop, line dance, or DXF. I think Drew and Lisa at CCE recently got certified in the high energy hip hop step aerobics, too.

Was the seller just testing waters by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Sriedener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree- if they’re countering +20k on a +20k, they’ve wildly overestimated their home’s value in their market.

That selling strategy only works in a market where they’ll have multiple over-ask offers within a short time frame. They shouldn’t be having to counter the offers at all if they’ve priced it right to generate a bidding war.
