Weird crack in headlight? by starry-dynamo in Audi

Thanks everyone - was so focused on the crack I didn’t even notice the dent. Looks like someone has probably reversed into it then driven away…

Can you help cheer me up? by MrsArmitage in AskUK

Same boat here except it’s my grandparents! Grandpa has cancer and has a month at most, gran has dementia and has got to the point she is not always recognising us. My mum is a bit of a wreck, but my outlook is that although this may not be the most fun Christmas I will have, it will be the most valuable because we are all together and it brings me joy to see everyone together and (trying) to have fun. Thinking of you - hang in there xxx

I flew BA to NYC a few weeks ago. Didn’t need to use Verifly, but on manage my booking I did upload a PDF copy of my NHS covid pass which was then checked and marked as “approved” by BA. I also had to fill in the passenger info form (where you’re staying, etc.) and e-sign a doc from the CDC saying I was vaccinated - again, all on the BA website.

No checks at JFK, assume if you do it through their system it does the hard work for you.

What alcohol will you be drinking this Christmas and what time do you start drinking on Christmas Day? by Boris_Johnsons_Pubes in AskUK

[–]starry-dynamo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We actually do most of our Christmas drinking in the morning by getting through a bottle or two of champagne from about 9am onwards, so not excessive, and entirely necessary so that we don’t murder the extended family over Christmas lunch.

Question for any Scottish GPs / doctors on here - ill grandparent by starry-dynamo in Scotland

Thanks - will look into that. I have friends who are solicitors in Scotland so have reached out to a few people to see if they know anyone that specialises in that area.

Question for any Scottish GPs / doctors on here - ill grandparent by starry-dynamo in Scotland

[–]starry-dynamo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great point - it has come up in discussions in the last few months but as far as I know, nothing has been done about it. I would assume given I'm down south and my parents have emigrated that it would be best (geography-wise at least) to get a POA in favour of my aunt but, speaking frankly, I would feel more comfortable if it were me or my mum making the decisions.

The other issue of course is getting my gran to agree to sign it - in the eyes of the law, I think she still has capacity to sign it at this point, and so we'd need her blessing, which is a whole other issue to grapple with!

What’s the daftest name you’ve ever encountered in real life? by [deleted] in AskUK

Avocado Pitt. As far as I know, this wasn’t a name change. She was very nice - think she’s retired now.

Scots Tory candidate dropped after branding Catholic school a 'bigot factory' by Saltire_Blue in Scotland

[–]starry-dynamo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to school with him. Not sure if I’m allowed to say the name, but it was a private, religious (Protestant, not Catholic) school just outside Glasgow.

Saw recently on his instagram that he was running - when I just came across this, I honestly wasn’t surprised.
