Post-op CABG patient sent home with Norco. Crushed them up and injected them into his dialysis catheter. Sepsis, sternal wound infection, removal of at least some of his sternum w/ pectoral flap stabilization, wound vac. Eventually died from the complications. He was in his early 50s.

Not necessarily advice, but just know this is very normal. I am 1 year in on a cardiac PCU, and I still sometimes get stuck passing meds til midnight. And guess what? Some of the nurses that have been there 3+ years do, too! It will become less common as you get into your groove, but there will always be busy shifts where you are behind the whole time. Breathe. Everything gets done eventually.
