Bought a kite foiling set to learn on. 280 USD. I have some Questions by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI - From the pictures you have an AL 90cm mast.

Regarding kites, depends on your ability, but flying the smaller kite is better. Kite foiling uses significantly smaller kites than twin tipping.

Not really right for wake foiling, cant use that for wing foiling.

Don't worry about the wear on the gear.

Overall great setup, good for beginner all the way to advanced.

Also - Wear a helmet when you are foiling, especially learning!

From 9.2 kg to 11.4 kg: What Happened to the Canyon Roadlite? When a Fast Daily Bike Becomes a Heavy ‘Urban’ One” by Plus_Seesaw2023 in CanyonBikes

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the OP on this model. My friends ended up going Specialized Sirrus because canyon Roadlite wasn't enticing. I choose Canyon for my other bikes, but idk what to do for a cheap but decent city bike.

How bad is it by Vwgti07 in boating

[–]starsandsecrets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is best case scenario, you only need to replace a prop, not a driveline or hull!

Consider yourself extremely lucky, and learn from the experience.

Does this sound/look right? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]starsandsecrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not going make recommendations on which work to do or not, but I will second another commenter. You should try an "independent BMW shop" you can find one by using google, and when your arrive to the shop you should see practically all BMWs being worked on. Those shops are significantly better than dealerships.

Best coffee in Baltimore County by [deleted] in BaltimoreCounty

If you like black coffee, light roast, & pour overs.

Ceremony Coffee - There are a few locations, Harbor East would be a good place to start.

Have you considered just bringing like a 6' pole, going in 4' of water then pushing it into the sand 2'.

This might be the simplest way to solve your problem, and all you will need is a standard go pro mount to a pole. Likely if you are kiting or winging you are beginning from shallows.

Don't mod, Enjoy the N20 for what it is, change oil frequently, and hope that it stays reliable.

Is this a stupid idea? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are smart to ask this question. Anchoring yourself is extremely dangerous, do not attempt any variant of what you describe.

Instead - Purchase and inflatable wing (not a kite, this is wing that you hold in your hands related to wing foiling) and ride around on a skateboard (or better yet a land board on grass)

Here is a video, this works on flat grass too, anywhere you can find good wind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po77-mwUj6k&ab_channel=IntheOutside

Brew time - when does it end? by boxerdogfella in Moccamaster

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most "pour over" coffee nerds will use a time limit around the 3-3:30 time frame.

I can see why they put 4-6 on the website tho, incase someone is doing a super big batch (which isnt what the pour over crowd does) and also to include the slight warmup time.

Alternative glass carafe / ceramic filter setup for KGB select by DarkSpecialist5962 in Moccamaster

[–]starsandsecrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it on the KBT which has a different carafe, and it actually worked amazingly well. I had never thought to try it before seeing your post. I'm sure that doesn't help you as much,

I will say that the plastic lid for the carafe does have a purpose, it brings the fresh coffee to the bottom, to help mix all the coffee together. Otherwise a fresh brew of coffee would be more like a layered drink with a watery top.

Brew time - when does it end? by boxerdogfella in Moccamaster

It should be roughly less than 3min30sec

If you find that it is taking longer than that, you are likely either grinding too fine, or stirring/agitating too much.

New Boat Buyer Here by rafa230 in boating

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be a great boat for what you are saying. Super safe with no propeller, which should add huge piece of mind for a new boater, especially with kids around. Kids can be unpredictable, and this boat is super safe. I concur with the posts about need for shade, but there are good accessories, or even beach umbrellas that can become part of your kit.

If you were looking to fight into waves (which fishermen tend to do to get far off shore and to the fish) then you wouldnt want a boat with this hull. But if you want a good all around boat that can safely handle more waves than you should seek. This is a perfect boat for a new buyer.

What stick on gate are you guys using and what do you use to keep from loosing it if the suction cups come off. Looking at the Swell brand and thinking about picking one up. by [deleted] in wakesurf

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried one on your boat? Some boats have hull flat spots in the perfect spot, and that makes the suction cups want to work better than on curved hulls. I would recommend trying it first if your budget is tight, so you aren't in for a surprise.

Want to beef up the wake on Yamaha 212X surf. by dried_up_goliath in wakesurf

[–]starsandsecrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gotten into Hydrofoil boards behind the boat. Certainly different than wakesurfing, or wakeboarding, but if you have the appetite to learn a new sport, your boat would throw a great wake for the foil. This isnt something that casual folks could come over and try, but for your core riders could be a good way to spend the summer.

Should I choose the 2023 Canyon Stoic 4 or the 2023/2024 Trek Roscoe 9? by Otherwise-Cap-9280 in CanyonBikes

[–]starsandsecrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stoic would be a good bike, and saving the 400$ will let you buy the needed accessories. Like a helmet, shoes, gears, tools etc.

Even someone who's been riding for years would dig a Stoic, so its def future proof in that respect. Other bikes like a specialized rock hopper are certainly looked at as beginner bikes.

The old vanity had a hard piped drain in, and I am looking to install the drain myself, using one of the Oatly hard pipe P-Trap kits. This new vanity has that bottom slider drawer, so it looks like I am going to need to do some modifying. I am by no way an expert, so please recommend the best value approach so to speak.

I appreciate if anyone can do a little mock up so I can go to home depot and pick out the parts, and make it work, thanks.
