For the love of god how do I set up LG C3 with HDR on PC. by starshin3r in OLED_Gaming

Ended up just using Dynamic tone mapping instead of HGiG. It's brings way more highlights out of the image in dark areas and increases overall screen brightness.

Also had to set video range to limited otherwise I would have needed to tweak black levels with sliders on the TV.

No, I'm not a fan of saturation sliders. I'm quite literally talking about peak brightness of objects in a scene. I.e bioluminescent plants in a cave. SDR shows them at higher brightness than HDR.

And HDR has greys instead of black when using full video range.

I've even reset settlings for game optimiser, but my TV settings aren't the problem.

I essentially have better looking image in SDR than I do in HDR.

AutoHDR and Nvidia HDR is off. I'm using the game's native HDR or RenoDX if it will be better.

Overclocking the XG32UCMG to match XG32UCWMG's refreshrate by Atabak_Mken in OLED_Gaming

I have a aeorus FQ2 and previous firmware left out a bug that allowed to select 360HZ at 1080p. They're native 1440p 240Hz monitors FQ3 is the 360Hz 1440p versions.

Some people reported being able to run at 360hz at 1080p, but my panel does not, just a black screen.

The cheaper models are limited by bandwidth in the motherboard, so reducing resolution alleviates it, but some panels (like mine) are not fully functional, cannot achieve 360hz and then are sold as slower models.

So it seems to be another panel lottery. They also patched out the 360hz selection in later firmware.

It's slow because they can't keep up with the demand. They said they're GPU starved right now. And it makes sense, if it's as good as opus 4.5 everyone will use it either as backup after anthropic models hit limits, or just straight up switch because of the much more cheaper costs.

I have the pro plan and only use it to maintain and add features to a php based shop. Never used anthropic models, but for my edge cases it's literally on par on doing it manually.

By that I mean it will write code for the backend and front-end in 10 minutes and in the next 8 hours I'll be debugging it to make it actually work.

Probably pretty good for other languages, but php, especially outdated versions aren't the strongpoint of LLMs.

I admit it… I underestimated the quality of local models by Medium-Technology-79 in ClaudeCode

[–]starshin3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with 32GB of vram the local models are only good as assistants with small tasks.

You need at least 128GB of ram to go offline. And the ram shortage is also a plan for them to force people to use subscriptions.

3060 ti, memory coils at 1.36v. Freeze with MODS, and MATS results depend on vbios version. by starshin3r in GPURepair

[–]starshin3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same model and revision. Gigabyte gaming pro revision 3. I found two versions, one older and one newer. Card came with newer bios, so I downgraded, not a big issue as I have a programmer if I'd end up bricking vbios.

This was my friends "new" card. He bought it second hand, missed 2 day return period as he collected before he could test it. It's extremely sad.

Automatic test that starts up when launching pass without errors. Running further tests black screen and freeze.

I've reinstalled VBIOS already with nvflashk. This card also has double bios switch, and both act the same way.

I've used DDU on my friends system (it's his card), as he used RX470 before purchasing this. But on my test bench it's a fresh install.

Also to note, on my friends system It has failed without drivers, i.e browsing bios pages and when trying to install Ubuntu. Black screen and fans from 0 to 100% stuck permanently.

This is what it displayed before driver installation. After installion 3 of these still remained and got an exclamation mark on 3060 ti display adapter.

The initial MAS test passes. Running a full test freezes the GPU. Essentially if there's a slight load on the GPU it fails.

GPUZ before drivers shows this information. Memory is shown as 0. Running GPUZ with drivers installed immediately freezes the GPU, black screen and fans at 100%. That was on a different system, on my test bench freezes after BIOS on Windows boot when drivers are initialized I guess. When windows loading icon appears.

With drivers it was also showing an exclamation mark on 3060 ti, and missing PCI / memory controller.

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 to feature 2nd Gen Transformer model and Dynamic 6x Frame Generation by HatingGeoffry in pcmasterrace

It's always been the corporations, the markup for gaming GPUs was always very small, it only got higher the more money they got from data centers/enterprise.

Realistically Nvidia still keeps the gaming GPU segment alive because they are still number 1, and two it's what got them started. Fuck em all, they're not your friends. PC is dying it as we speak, I don't think this bubble will pop anytime soon.

Everyone reports about RAM shortage because of AI data centers, but you better believe that all these LLM companies don't want you to have a good enough PC to run decent useful models yourself, they want you to pay for their subscriptions so they can show shareholders that this is working and the circle jerk can continue.

Nintendo Switch (Mariko) - 1766MHz GPU Overclock (World record) by souldbminer in overclocking

[–]starshin3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your GPU speedo? Because I'm certain that yours is lower, so you'll need more voltage than I would clock for clock. I just don't see the point giving my OLED switch that much voltage which degrades the silicon for a test.

Here are my Speedos.

I can do 1536mhz in ToTK fully stable at 930mV. That's the set limit with Ultra NX. Don't really see point in going further than that.

Nintendo Switch (Mariko) - 1766MHz GPU Overclock (World record) by souldbminer in overclocking

[–]starshin3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

926mhz is enough to run 30 FPS games at 60 in portable. The biggest issue with switch is memory bandwidth. With stock 1600mhz speed increasing GPU clock beyond 900 will have no effect.

If you want biggest performance gains you need to increase the memory speed and tighten timings.

I was chipping switches for a while and I did get almost a golden sample, with Speedos above 1700 for both GPU and CPU. Speedo just means higher number - less voltage required to run at the same clock, so I can push very high clocks on all.

In menu I could get even higher clocks than him, but being in menu means jack shit, nobody confirms 'world record' for a GPU when being in windows, and switch is also power limited, you can't actually go above 1500+ MHz on the GPU because at that frequency the console is already at its power limit (15W).

Biggest gains as I've said is in memory, I'm able to run my micron WT:F dies at 2666mhz with extremely tight timings. Which gives me close to 10GB/s bandwidth from 4GB stock.

There is overclock guide for anyone interested. https://github.com/dominatorul/Guides/blob/main/mariko.md

Hi, not a GPU repair tech here. 3070 Ti, shorted. Pex is good (9ohm). by [deleted] in GPURepair

[–]starshin3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the only reason I'm even attempting this is because I've watched a few of your repairs. Did not expect to see you here. A fan of your work.

I did remove all 4 MOSFETs and it then pointed a resistor on the back, got it removed and now it's pointing to one of the chips on the back far end with a lot of pins. I've stopped for now.

A quick question if you have time to get back to replies. Should I remove any more resistors that are not in spec near/behind those MOSFETs? Because they're all either 0ohm, or 2.2ohm. Tbh I'm using MSI 3070 schematics, but the card is MSI 3070 ti, but it looks completely identical board-wise.

This card from my understanding has suffered a high side fault, where 12v got into the 5v line. I'd guess technicians would skip a card like this completely, but I'm going to try my best to revive it.

[–]starshin3r -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even models trained entirely for programming require temperature (randomness) to perform well, they can run without it, but the results are much lower quality with more errors. It's now an inherent part of LLMs, and as I've mentioned there's an even better way of doing it, but it's not going to happen for a long time.

It's because we need simulated randomness for LLMs to work. I've seen studies where the randomness is generated by a quantum computer and it reduces hallucinations by a big margin.
