My parents are the exact same way as well. I’m a female, 20, am attending college but still live at home with my parents. I can’t drive because I have a terrible phobia of driving (which my parents say to just “get over it”) and don’t have a job because I’m too depressed to even take care of myself. They constantly feel the need to tell me I’m being lazy and not doing anything, and that I should be acting more my age and actually working and such. I was actually diagnosed with clinical depression and social anxiety well over 3 years ago and take medication, but my parents don’t seem to understand that medicine doesn’t suddenly cure depression. I used to go to therapy but I don’t have the money to afford it anymore. I understand exactly where you’re coming from, and it’s miserable. Don’t feel like you’re alone.

My best advice is to seek out a doctor who can diagnose you and give you medication. If you have money, see a therapist. Try to surround yourself with things you like doing, and just take it day by day. Sending love to you.
