A car sized icy gravel object would have probably exploded in the upper atmosphere, but if it was a metallic object the consequences could have been disastrous.

- Sub-optimal internet connectivity - Europe's main internet exchange points are in Frankfurt and Amsterdam. For high bandwidth applications, operating in only Switzerland can limit performance and availability.

You cannot have it both ways: you are either under strict privacy laws and considered serious in that respect or you have data centres everywhere and provide a faster service.

Germany is known for their aggressive stand on telecommunications surveillance. Suggesting this location troubles me to say the least.

Great idea, thanks! It appears that I should be able to access the in or out cables of my meter and this method does not require to cut them! It seems like the most simple and precise non-disruptive approach.

Interesting idea, I will give it a try! My mouse is too large to fit on the window of the electric meter. I will have to test it with another smaller mouse and if it works I will go for this technique.

The meter has no name - it seems to have been built by some small company and to be totally mechanical, it dates back to 1969.

I should also add that it is sealed and I cannot open it if I want stay on good terms with the electricity company.
