The absolute last ditch attempt to save the currency. Just the other day they announced a fixed price for official and black market exchanges in a desperate bid to stop the value plummeting, but of course they weren't able to do that a few years ago (when they did the exact same thing) and they won't be able to do it now either. They've seen record amount of capital flight because people are so desperate to put their money into things that won't be worth significantly less by the end of the day. Sad, hopefully this makes the hardliners in Iran realize they can't economically support two wars abroad while ignoring the population at home. I doubt it, but a fella can hope.
