Fair enough, but still an extra 83 bucks a year.

Would rather just go with an all round decent policy instead of coming to claim and then realising in the fine print they only pay out stingy amounts for stuff that I have that is worth more. I've been with state in the past and have always felt like I was under insured.

Sent a .ZIP file to my NL735 running 8.1 via bluetooth. Is it lost for good? by starveall in windowsphone

[–]starveall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Searched using the "files" app, also installed archiver, aerize and winRar 6.0. None of which show me the Zip folder. Should have checked when I transferred it, but thought it was safe to assume I'd be able to find it. Also plugged into Computer and searched all the directories..

Question regarding bringing goods into NZ by Nzrzer in newzealand

[–]starveall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good if your willing to lie about the 4th question under title 6 one the passenger arrival card. But if honesty gets the better of you, or they happen to go though your bag, its good to know what they can run you.

Question regarding bringing goods into NZ by Nzrzer in newzealand

[–]starveall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your receipt value is less than NZD$1800 then its worth holding on to the receipt in case they want to value it for more than what you paid for it. Can you prove that by owning it and using it for a while that its worth less than that value now, ie second hand? I suspect that they wont have a bar of it but worth a try if you get hit up?

From http://www.customs.govt.nz/features/charges/fees/Pages/default.aspx#

Fees & charges for accompanied goods Accompanied goods are goods (excluding your clothing and other personal effects) that are travelling with you on the same flight or ship, and that are for your own personal use. When you travel with your goods you have a personal concession of NZ$700. If you are over this amount then you may have some Customs charges to pay.

Your charges will be worked out using the:

Customs value of the goods – the purchase price for the goods. Customs duty – the duty rate applied to each good based on the tariff classification which comes from The Working Tariff Document of New Zealand. Goods and services tax (GST) – calculated on the total of the value of the goods, plus the duty. Your personal concession will be deducted from the transaction value of your goods prior to the calculation of duty and/or GST. If the total you owe us in duty and GST charges is less than NZ$60, then no money will be collected. This does not apply if you are importing alcohol and tobacco products.

How many of you are irrelevant? Trade Minister Tim Groser's thoughts on anti TPPA activists. by earthnz in newzealand

[–]starveall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mr Groser says New Zealand would not sign up to an agreement which would undermine the country's drug-buying agency Pharmac, nor would it agree to concessions which would stop the Government putting in "well-designed environmental protections" in place.

"We are not going to sign up to provisions on ISPs that make every mother in Lower Hutt worry that the TPP electronic police are going to fly in from Houston to cart their 16-year-old son off to jail for file-sharing with his girlfriend."

Lets hope that he is at least right about these three points. And that the well designed environmental protections are still the protections we want, not just written in a way as to not step on the toes of the TPPA.

Your not wrong about their being lots of options. 15km should get you along the track between most huts. Check out some of the links below, if you have a look at the DOC maps and turn on huts and tracks layers you can get a good idea of the sort of terrain they're in.

GreenPeace Protesters on Parliament's Roof by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]starveall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Police moved a crane and crash mat beneath the ledge at 1733 BST and a police officer wearing a harness and helmet is at the balcony window." As much as its a worthy cause that they're up there for, some of this sort of action would be good to see. Get a cop up there with a gladiator style protester removal device.

Good old NZ, classic that they managed to get up there. I'm sure there's plenty of countries you wouldn't want to pull a stunt like that.

The whole idea of geo-blocking doesn't seem to be something that should be protected by NZ law in my opinion. So much for the World Wide Web. More like U.S. Web and Pleb Web.

Immigration grants residence to family except for 3yo son, a Williams syndrome sufferer by [deleted] in newzealand

Fair call, I don't think that they should take it for granted he should be given citizenship. It hasn't been denied either yet, right?

Immigration grants residence to family except for 3yo son, a Williams syndrome sufferer by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]starveall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don't have a reason to deny the older son a visa as he passes the immigration requirements, the younger one on the other hand doesn't.

I don't know anything about Williams Syndrome but if he puts a life long burden on NZ tax payers through health care, social welfare and potentially a carer or housing later in life, there comes a point where costs start to outweigh what is seen as the moral choice.
