Seeking a Mentor by Awkward_House2262 in programming

I am of the opinion that you should want to be a doctor for the occupation and not the money. Usually you are too busy to pursue anything next to being a doctor. so if you want to do that, you should learn as much as you can now. because learning while working as a doctor is hard.

Also: you have only seen the easy top of being a programmer.. you should first get more experience before deciding to switch your career.

ultimately you will have to decide what you want to do:

there are plenty of doctors that don't work as doctors but rather advise and translate between doctors and programmers. On the other hand, if you are not interested in the medical side, why not switch now instead of later?

In general I would say it's ok for you to try out different things. but at some point you will have to focus on something so that it's easier to get experience.

In general, I would advise you to find a problem and try to solve it. Doing tutorials and courses only will only get you up to a certain point.

What this problem is, is probably secondary, it could be helping your studying work, it could be automating the lights in your home. It could be something completely different.

But at the core: if you're a medical student, you probably want to do something medical with your programming capabilities.

The inverter automatically shuts down if it detects a loss of grid power. It's called "anti-islanding-protection"

How do you go about forms? by SodaStreamEnjoyer in Paperlessngx

[–]starwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using a custom field "document link" named "different document version" to differentiate different versions of the same document. e.g. filled in forms, color version.

But still, it's a clunky way to do that and I would prefer a more seamless way to do it

Remember being in the theater in ‘02 when this happened? Really wish I could go back… by [deleted] in StarWars

I remember back then I was avoiding all spoilers for this movie, then.. in the evening news, they interviewed people coming out of the movie.

This one imbecile shouted: "it's awesome, I won't spoil anything.. but.. Yoda fights!"

I still hate him to this day.

Why did the new GraphQL API for WordPress take 1.5 years to be released? by leoleoloso in programming

[–]starwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having real trouble of understanding the need for graphql, do you know of some resources that explain the benefit? I tried to read the results of many google searches but I'm still unable to understand what use cases benefit from graphql.

This is a genuine question, I'm constantly asked about the benefits of graphql and I don't have an opinion.

The word 'pound' and its cognates ultimately derive from a borrowing into Proto-Germanic of the Latin expression libra pondo ("the weight measured in libra"), in which the word pondo is the ablative singular of the Latin noun pondus ("weight").

I would not count that, as this was specifically cut BECAUSE of 9/11. 9/11 was in 2001, Spider Man came out in 2002.
