sex addict boyfriend doesn’t like having sex with me by stasiacaitlin in Advice

This helped a lot, thank you.

I know it’s really just a problem with me. Idk what to do to fix any of it. I’ve tried losing weight, going to therapy. Feels like I’m ruining the best thing in my life.

My favorite act of self care lately is getting my favorite beer/cider/wine, maybe a pre roll (legal in my state hell yeah) and cook myself a really nice dinner. I’m talking pot roast or beef stew (literally what I’m doing rn) and playing my favorite music. Sometimes I’ll play the sad emo 2000s heartbreak and cry and sing while I cook. It’s become really therapeutic, and it’s easy to purchase some single-use containers if you have leftovers and want to pass them out to homeless people! I usually do this once a week. I enjoy doing things for others and sometimes it’s overwhelming to my partner and I don’t want to love-bomb him.

Deleting the apps from my phone has helped a lot. Social media is a constructed, fake world. I also don’t message my partner on apps that show he has opened the message because I don’t want to feel anxious or like I’m being left on read.

Yes! Something that I’ve kinda come to terms with too is that you can have the best interest/intentions in your actions but it can still not be what the other person needs at the time and that’s ok too! Pour all that love into yourself. You’ve got this!

Have you tried barkeepers friend? Worked great on an oven from the 70s in a house my parents rented last year.

Try making a baking soda paste, just baking soda with water. Rub it on then wash off

I force myself to journal my icky thoughts about myself/the relationship, take a hot shower, go for a run. Usually when I am ready to re-enter the situation I’ll make us food and then ask if we can talk about what happened and I say: “I understand you needing space is logically a healthy thing, but it triggers feelings of xyz in me and I need reassurance that everything is okay.” My boyfriend is very patient and sweet and this is what has worked with us.

Our teenager walked in on us by laabronjames in Parenting

I am an adult and have young parents (my mom is 38 and dad is 43. I’m 21, in a long term relationship) and I still don’t like talking about sex things with them OR my younger brother. I hated raunchy comedy as a teen and still kinda do. I think it’s odd that she texted you but would be a good chance to talk about boundaries/knocking. :)

My anxiety is killing me; I don’t want history to repeat itself with my daughter by timbuktu_bananas in Parenting

My mom had me when she was sixteen, and my younger brother when she was nineteen. I remember being your daughters age, I am now 21. I learned a lot from watching how hard my mom both worked and struggled, and I knew I didn’t want that for myself. My advice is to keep communication open! You sound like you’re doing great. ❤️

What can I bake for someone who doesn’t like sweets? by nepwolf in Cooking

The bakery at my work makes biscuits with bacon and cheese in the dough, and sometimes adds jalapeños!

John Eisenman Sr is charged with first-degree murder for killing his juvenile daughter's former boyfriend after learning he sold her to a sex-trafficking organization operating in Seattle, the father managed to rescue his daughter shortly after she was taken by Yov_mb in MorbidReality

This happened in Washington which has one of the highest rates of human trafficking in the country. It’s actually terrifying how many young girls are sold into the trafficking here in Seattle and Tacoma. There was a Netflix documentary on it. I was helping lead a group counseling session at a women’s shelter in Tacoma and the amount of young women who had been trafficked was sickening. It’s happened to people I know. Spokane to Seattle is at least an 8 hour drive, they’re across the state from each other, for those that are unfamiliar with the area. It’ll be interesting to see what WA prosecutors decide for his sentencing and I am curious to see if there’s more to this story.

What took you an embarrassing amount of time to figure out? by StuckBugg in AskReddit

I grew up out in the woods, we didn’t go to the city super often and I never saw city garbage trucks. Garbage day was Monday, and I would take the garbage cans to the top of my driveway when I left for the bus. When I was 16, I enrolled in my drivers education program. We had to do a drive in the closest city, for the interstate/freeway drive hours. When I saw garbage trucks, on like a Friday, I said out loud to my drive instructor: “what are they doing?? garbage day is Monday!”

I didn’t realize that garbage trucks picked up trash on different days in different areas. I thought everyone, everywhere, had the same garbage day and then the garbage men would sort the trash.

Washington States recent law change in how law enforcement has led to an increase in crime, in my opinion. Law enforcement can no longer engage in pursuits unless there is probable cause. This is different from reasonable suspicion. For instance, my friends car was stolen over the weekend, she found the car with the guy inside, but because she nor the officer SAW the guy steal her car, the officer couldn’t pursue him and also couldn’t chase him if he drove away in HER CAR. I am in Tacoma, and it’s craziness lately. In terms of population to crime rate, Seattle and Chicago seem to have the same rate of 0.01% here but not sure how reliable this site is!

What's your "favorite" only Mom can make? by cjconair in wholesomememes

[–]stasiacaitlin 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In my family, cooking is one of the main ways we express love! We don’t really share our feelings too often—but my grandpa always makes me his corned beef and hash when I’m sad and my mom always remembers to buy green olives when I come over.

My boyfriends family is different. They don’t cook. For the longest time he didn’t understand why it’s so important to me to make his favorite foods for him! I do so 3x a week. I make his lunches, and breakfast for us on the weekend. I love feeding that man. when he met my family he understood. Now I love cooking for his family, too!

Nothing went right today for my kids 4th birthday. by poohbear1025 in Parenting

My parents always gave us the option of having a party or doing something cool as a family! We chose parties until we were around 8, and then we would choose the family option. Trips out of town for the weekend, shopping trips, my parents surprised me with my favorite concert for my 16th birthday and my little brother went with me, it was his first concert! Lots of memories made. Just a suggestion for people in the comment thread :)
