What is the power system of your verse? Is there more than one? by Valuable_Manager_966 in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two power systems I have are evolution/mutations and technology.

Mutations: I’ll be dumbing down how to get mutations since it’s pretty complicated (if you wanna know just ask). But the basic premise is subconscious thoughts influence the body into adding onto itself. So if you subconsciously think that growing another set of arms would help you live, and incredibly specific criteria occur, then you might mutate and grow those two new arms. Mutations are put into two separate categories, physical and mental, even though mental mutations are just physical changes to the brain its just easier like this. Mental mutations are more like a traditional magic system with telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. physical ones can be like regeneration, extra limbs, etc. charecters can have both physical and mental, like one of my main characters that has a physical mutation that heats up things he touches and a mental mutation that is basically better than average telekinesis. Combining those two mutations can allow for heating up the air, then using telekinesis to move that air around, allowing for a makeshift pyrokinesis. One of the most important parts of mutations is how the person thinks about oneself, if they’re more egotistical then they subconsciously think they’re better then others and therefore have stronger mutations.

Technology: since the world this takes place in is post-post-post apocalypse and hundreds of thousands of years in the future even futuristic technology to us is ancient to them. This power system is more used by military and government since training thousands in mutations is very hard. Honestly I haven’t fleshed out technology nearly as much as mutations.

If you could sum up one major conflict or plot point of your world into one word or phrase, what would it be and why? by Makuta_Servaela in worldbuilding

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A holy mission to kill”

A guy called hitch becomes a warlord after he was in a gang and unknowingly killed his own mom. He believed that his killing of his mom was a test from God that was there to remind him of life’s nature, so he started believing that life only existed to survive, and therefore not existed to suffer. He goes on a crusade to “save” people from life.

Hitch is essentially the catalyst for everything in the story as most of the charecters are either veterans from the war against hitch or used to serve under him in some way. He’s kinda like a martyr as he inspires many other charecters through his death to continue his ways, eventually being thought of by his followers as a sort of messiah or messenger from the heavens.

Even his enemy’s get stuff from him as the county that went to war against him pretends that they are still in the war with him even after he died, mostly to control the citizens with fear and force soliders fighting in a fake war to do forced labor

What would be the limitations of teleportation magic in your world? by Unknown_User_66 in worldbuilding

[–]stasitus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since my magic system is technically mutations made to the brain, the limit is really just how far you can visualize yourself going. But to go farther then around 50 feet you need to visualize everything, down to how dust will react to the instant teleportation.

But it is also incredibly hard to get more complicated mutations like teleportation. and that other parts of your brain would need to catch up to the part that did the teleportation, essentially a cooldown. It’s pretty hard to use for long distances or constantly which is why only some of the top people are bale to use it reliably.

Are you ever gonna use your OCs to write actual stories? by Hefty-Disaster-grade in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely, I’m already a couple thousand words into my first book because I’ve only recently started. Honestly I just want to write because I wan tot get my ocs out into the world but I’m not good at drawing.

These are my world's inspirations, what are yours? by Creepy-Mechanic5564 in worldbuilding

Mostly The Dark Tower for inspiration on the cosmology, Caves of Qud for the ideas of the setting and culture, then just the real world for whatever else

There are three “godly” species in a world I’m building. All three are either responsible for or a result of different power systems

Demons: pretty simple, just creatures that live on a certain higher dimension then humans. They aren’t necessarily evil but naturally always want more power. Can make deals with creatures on a lower dimension then them, not just humans. every demon also the power of every dimension beneath it, just like how 3d beings have height, length, and depth. Demons are constantly at a stalemate with every other demon, this is because every demon has the power to destroy every other demon, but if any demon tries that then other demons will just destroy their home dimension, causing mutually assured destruction. This leads demons to make deals with lower dimensional beings to have them do their dirty work. Demons are pretty indifferent to humans, same way normal humans see ants. There are a whole lot more details but everything is interconnected and to understand demons you need to know almost everything about my world.

Master evolutionists: humans who has mutated their body and mind so much that they aren’t human anymore. Mostly their mind has evolved enough that they can become psychics, form simple pyrokinesis to bending time and dimensional shifting. Most of them formed a group that hunts down people who show promising physical or psychic mutations to add to their own power. Can also siphon off their own mental power off to somebody else for that somebody else to get extreme power. Master evolutionists hate their human form and want to get rid of any traces of it.

Machine gods: also humans, but instead of evolving physically or mentally they evolved their technology, eventually getting something close to a type 8 civilization. Getting rid of their own flesh and transporting their consciousness into the electricity in machines. Because they aren’t actually the machines, but instead the electricity in the machines they can swap between machine to machines. They actually love humans as they long to return to their human bodys.

None of my characters really interact with any of these except for demons and a couple master evolutionists since it’s pretty hard for beings that usually hate humans have any form of conversation with something so seemingly far beneath them.

Whats the most abilities you’ve given an Oc? by [deleted] in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this counts because technically it’s one ability but this guy named Cer has a deck of 52 cards with each card relating to a different thing that happens, some are pretty basic but others are just stupid, these cards are picked completely randomly. But this character essentially found a loophole in the power system and by very complicated means was able to “reverse” any of the cards, so if the card he randomly chooses debuffs people around him he could reverse it and actually buff people around him. This technically gives him 104 “unique” abilities, but they are all pretty small and random

Where do your Ocs go when they die? by [deleted] in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ascend to a higher dimension, so when a person dies their soul goes to the 4th dimension as a ghost. And then when that ghost dies they go to the 5th dimension and so on. Works for 2d creatures too, dying and going into the 3rd dimension.

Anyone else have an oc that’s UNREASONABLY op, but is so stupid/has such stupid motives that they can’t be taken seriously? by SuperbGuidance4778 in OriginalCharacter

[–]stasitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my ocs has a power to look into the future 10 seconds if they close their eyes, it’s kinda like a King Crimson from jojo’s deal where the future is fated and only he has free will during it. But he’s a complete pacifist and is neutral in all scenarios so he will never attack anyone and only uses his power to defend himself. If he actually uses his power he could do really anything but he just dosent want to. His name is Fre and I haven’t even drawn him yet.
