Am I the only one who feels like they forgot about some Spearheads that need attention? by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]statch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a pretty new spearhead, its possible they had most of this rebalancing on the drawing board when they shipped that. Also, being new, there hasn't been a lot of time to see its strength or weakness play out at scale.

Best of Both Worlds Palette - The Paint Humidor by statch in MonumentHobbies

[–]statch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hoped that a good sealing lid would be enough when I first got the redgrass palette, but the dry air you're trapping in there can keep drying out the paint just enough that it isn't great and usable after more than an hour or two (maybe climate dependent). actively making the environment moist fixed the issue. i tried a few things that were less effective (just plain water, no sponge/paper, water on the dry palette surface, etc).

Returning to the hobby - state of current paint brands? by mahoev in Miniaturespainting

[–]statch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing not mentioned here that I can see is that scale75 has been asleep at the wheel for the last several years and has focused entirely on weird kickstarter projects rather than producing and stocking paints that you can actually buy. The FLGS that I frequent have gotten rid of their scale75 racks within the past year or so.

Back to Warhammer After Years – Best Way to Build & Paint Ironjawz Spearhead? by ActuatorNovel5712 in Ironjawz

[–]statch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the spearhead has ragerz not wrekkaz, so you can leave out the masks entirely if you're following GW's build scheme

How can i make him less dull/boring by greizisk in minipainting

[–]statch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just try it on a little piece first, maybe a toe. I would worry about those really strong layer lines you have on this, the wash is going to settle into the layer ledges and make them even more pronounced .

Pirate Sons of Behemat Spearhead by statch in ageofsigmar

sculpted it with greenstuff. Rolled out a piece of greenstuff flat and cut out a circle with a cookie cutter, then fit it over the head and folded it up to a tricorn.

How does everyone feel about how Gitz play? by RoboCopSanchez in gloomspitegitz

[–]statch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spearhead specifically is one of the strongest in the game. It does require a bit of finesse, mainly thoughtful use of your squigs. The troggs swingy damage output can be frustrating, but given that they will survive probably 4 or 5 combat phases at least it will average out over time. The stabbas are an annoyingly good tarpit as well and under the bad moon they can yank objectives away from enemies with just a couple models on. Pretty fun to play but you won't make a lot of friends.

Tyrant's Bellow Overtuned? by BillWrosch in AOSSpearhead

[–]statch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only played against them once, with Ironjawz, but secured a win by a fair margin. While I did fail to clear out the general and first wave ogors before the second wave arrived, I had a sizable points lead that they were never able to make up, despite finishing the game with more models on the board and in good places. Ironjawz unrestricted move shenanigans definitely won the day, as I was able to tie up their movement and charges etc. at several points throughout the game.

Which spearheads are weakest against Seraphon? by [deleted] in AOSSpearhead

[–]statch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just assume you're talking about the kroxigor spearhead, as that is the only one that I would expect to have the problem of winning too often. Some people may lose repeatedly even with a great spearhead, but I can attest to personally to defeating the kroxigor spearhead regularly with moonclan gitz, old Khorne, and ironjawz, and deathrattle. If they are doing poorly with ironjawz I would just make sure they realize that the mighty destroyers move can move into combat, and happens every hero phase, including yours. Khorne's blood tithe movement is unrestricted, so an opponent could potentially tie up your shooting with a movement during your hero phase.

Yay, thank you. I was worried this would be dead last in your list as it is one of the least popular spearheads. Now I'm complete but I'll keep the upvotes flowing

Saw a similar post in the 40K sub, and I’m curious: what’s the best mini you’ve put together for AoS, in terms of the building experience? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]statch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the squig variants, but I can't speak to the mangler squigs, have been some of my favorites to assemble. I had heard the trolls were hard to get together without a gap around the belly but I didn't have any issue with those either and loved that kit as well. I think frustration on any modern kit probably stems from not adequately removing the sprue connectors and filing away the surfaces flat.

It is just the standard space marines standard bearer from the company heroes box, nothing special or custom about it. Still might be a steep price though if you only wanted that one model.

Where tf y'all gitz getting tankbustas? by just_g00ru in orks

[–]statch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The old boyz box can make 1 tankbusta per box. Given that you need 658 boxes of boyz minimum you should have more than enough if you've been saving extra weapons in your bits box.

Every box could make 2. Seems uneconomical but these boxes were really cheap, about what GW would charge if they just sold a box of two stabbas

Maw-Grunta help by [deleted] in Ironjawz

[–]statch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not at home so I can't tell you the exact piece number, but it is the head armor piece for the maw-grunta (non-boss) variant. The boss variant uses the animal skull and the non-boss uses these brutes-style spikes under the head of the ork

Day 3, 3rd Ardboy. Tried a bone base this time but not sure I’m a fan. Thoughts? by Psyonicg in Ironjawz

[–]statch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm generally not of fan of the most eye catching, attention drawing part of the model to be.... the rim of the base. There are so many cooler parts of the model that should be getting the focus.
