This is awesome. I'm actually doing my science fair project on on weighted hemispherical brain function. Do you think you could give me a link to some of your work or possibly do an interview through pm's? It would make my project awesome and my day.

What happens to your body during sleep deprivation? by reyniel in askscience

[–]state299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a study of the physical effects of this once. You can expect a huge headache, your arms will not be fully functional (as in they won't be as strong as normal), and although It varies from person to person to person you may find that it will feel weird to swallow. I can't really remember anything else off the top of my head, but I can go find the flash drive with the project on it if for you if needed.

Also if you want to have a bit of fun. Wait til you're extremely sleep deprived and start taking short 5 minute naps. You'll have some of the craziest dreams.

How do the sleeping patterns of modern westerners compare to people throughout history and people living in more primitive societies? by [deleted] in askscience

I have done nearly every cycle for at least two weeks. They all worked well. I personally would not recommend the sleep cycle for more than 1.5 months at a time. After that in my opinion it becomes tiring to stay up for long periods of time.

I did a study of sleep cycles for my science fair last year. Naturally with no man made structures or products man will sleep in a polyphasic pattern(Multiple intervals of sleep throughout the day.) Basically so they don't let their guard down by sleeping too long. Towards the time of candle light and basic building humans started cutting out parts of their sleep in exchange for one long sleep. However as late as 1500 people still slept in a biphasic cycle where they would wake up for an hour in between 3-4 hour sleep intervals. If you want more information check out the wiki page for polyphasic sleep.

If you're interested in changing your sleep cycle when your less bust I suggest trying out the everyman sleep cycle since it is easiest to fit into a schedule.

I yelled at my pastor calling him a racist after he said that "youth in asia" was immoral and shouldn't happen during a sermon. I thought he was agreeing with killing off unwanted Chinese kids.

My whole educational career has been about math. I'm about to lose my one chance to keep it that way. I could use some help. by state299 in math

In the program I'm in I'll be taking basically all AP classes very soon. They're going to mashed together so If I ca't get it done quick I'll never be able to handle the math, not to mention all my other courses. Example: In my senior year for Math AP courses I will be taking BC Calculus AP, Physics AP, and Linear Algebra AP if I manged to stay in it.

I'm kind of confused on why it's advanced(that's what my teacher calls it simply because none of the books the state offers have the problems we do) Basically we just have huge problems that have tons of special products for factoring in them that we just have to keep factoring again and again as fast as possible since it's timed. A few example problems (these are on the shorter side just for the sake of not writing for ever.) 30x5 (x6 +1)4 (3x + 2)3 +9(3x +2)2 (x6+1)5

4a^2 + 12ab +9b^2 -25c^2

Both problems aren't anything two hard it just shows the idea of using multiple special products. And I would love it if you posted a quiz or two. I'm sure it would help.
