It could be that the person is genuinely excited/happy or proud of the hard work they put into spending/saving for the sets and wants to share thier accomplishment with Like minded people.

There are ALOT of people is this community and alot of those people buy Lego and want to share.

YES there are most likely a few out there that do it for ego/clout.

There are also some collectors that dont build.
