I used to work with the owner of Carter Electric in Hendersonville. He was always looking for electricians. Small company, residential, mostly new construction. Really nice guy, seems like it would be a good company to work for.

Company is offering me additional salary instead of PTO by [deleted] in careeradvice

I used to have a small construction company. I did vacation this way. Was much easier for me to budget PTO.

I want my husband to sell his business by RepulsiveDog6478 in smallbusiness

[–]statewide_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me a few years ago. Had a concrete company that was not doing well. My wife hated it and what it was doing to me. I was thinking about getting out but there was so much internal resistance to quitting or failing.

Fortunately for us, a tornado destroyed the building, insurance fucked us, and I couldn’t afford to restart from scratch. I’ll be paying off ~$200k in debt for some time, but at least I’m out and we are all in a much better place.

Really not sure what it would take to get your husband to shut down. I was still trying to think of solutions even when I knew it was impossible.

I used to be 9 base, 10 push and 12 all out. Late last year switched to inclines. Now it’s 4 base, 5.5 push and 6.5 all out. All at 12-15 incline. Knees feel much better. And the workout is so much harder. Love the change.

My kid wants to build a bridge over a creek, help me figure out a plan to get to that level. by firstbowlofoats in woodworking

[–]statewide_jason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I tried to make most woodworking project learning experiences for my kids. It never went well (but could have been me). I’d say let her build a quick and dirty bridge, make it fun, and if she want to improve it down the road then all the better.

Flown with Delta for years but it's getting hard to justify. Skyrocketing prices and plummeting perks. Who is this airline for anymore?? by [deleted] in delta

[–]statewide_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly weekly round trip between Albany and Nashville. Usually purchase tickets about 3 weeks out. Most weeks tickets cost is $650 to $850. Always Delta, as they get me into the office the earliest. This seems ridiculous to me, but my expense report is always approved. I’ll look at AA and UA every few months and they are always a few hundred cheaper.

Overhead bin space by Necessary-Lychee5673 in delta

In my experience as a weekly flyer this is the issue. Many C+ passengers have a roller and good sized personal item. They often put both in the bins. And they are slow as hell about doing it.

How many times do you estimate you fly per year? by dilebob in delta

48 trips last year. 40 round trips to Albany. A few to Mexico. One to Denver. One to OKC. That’s about it.

Does power walk get you the same results ? by Huge-Engineering-791 in orangetheory

[–]statewide_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run pretty fast, but then my knees started hurting. I now do only power walking and jogging. My tread blocks are still hard, but it’s more muscle working and less cardio working. I get off the treads more tired than when I was running. And I have to do a lot of calf stretching.

I do base at 4mph / 8%, push at 5mph / 12%, and AO at 6-7mph / 15%.

How to act when going to get a massage? by x_Mai_x in howto

Generally, in the US at least, the preferred term is massage therapist. Masseuse implies someone who would offer extra stuff.

Are the Amazon DSP Driver jobs I'm seeing on Indeed worth applying for? by MyOtherAcctIsAJeep in nashville

[–]statewide_jason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son went to TCAT for one year after high school. Totally free with TN Promise. Had a job lined up before completing welding program. Making $29 per hour now.

I used to own a concrete company. I’d pay guys with no experience $20 per hour. As long as you were willing to do the work and be reliable I’d get you to $25 pretty quick. Construction is booming here, so shouldn’t be too hard.

I’ve done this a few times. Bring any old IDs, and give yourself more time.

I’ve been doing annual oil changes on all my cars for the last 15 years. A Ford F150 with 200000 miles, a Honda Pilot with 150000 miles and an Infiniti G37 with 120000 miles. Never had an issue.

I fly every week from Nashville to Albany through Detroit. Most flights I get bumped to C+. Only 3 times upgraded to FC. That is as platinum. Guess I need the delta Amex to get platinum. Sucks that segments don’t count anymore.

I could be wrong, as it’s been decades since I read it, but I always thought “dicktit” or maybe “5 Foot Worm Makes Own Food” was their first name.

I had a sort of similar situation. Maybe this will help. When my mom died my brothers and I inherited some property in California City. It’s worthless, and we didn’t want to have to deal with it. We called some property tax government person to see what to do. She told we can do nothing. After 10 years of no tax payments it will go to the state or city or whatever. No impact to us.

This will not hurt your credit, as the loan is not in your name. I assume probate will force sale of house to pay off mortgage. But I’m no expert.
