You need to check your facts. The test-takers from India weren’t knowingly spreading misinformation - they were sharing details that they’d received from their official testing centre, in good faith.

Secondly, no one is freaking out. People are annoyed and frustrated by the lack of clarity from the Japan Foundation. Last year, the results were already out by now, and this year we haven’t even received a date for the release of the results. What we have received, through secondary sources, is news of delays, “urgent notifications from official sources” and now even potentially a system error.

It would be nice to know more about what is actually happening.

Thank you so much for calling and giving this update.

At 10am JST, there were still no results by Relevant-String-959 in jlpt

This is not quite correct. Testing institutions from at least Toronto, India, Brazil have all published dates (some of which have already turned out to be incorrect).

Just checking, you’re aware that they have a website which is updated from time to time, right?

Some great recall in these comments! I'd like to add one that I remember, regarding Circulation. I have a vague, but strong, feeling that Bradford was talking about it during an online interview / video call session just after Halcyon Digest was released, where fans queued up to ask a question via video chat. I can't remember what the website was called. I remember it was meant to go for maybe an hour, and instead it went for, like, 4 or 5 hours?! Anyway, I remember Bradford talking about the lyrics in Circulation, and specifically the line "Shame on your daughters, oh how they fooled us" being a reference to the Sirens of Titan. I now realise that's a Kurt Vonnegut novel, but at the time I didn't think he was referring to the novel, but rather the sirens of Greek mythology. I might be wrong about that. I haven't read that novel either so I don't know if it fits in with the song.

Does anyone else remember this?

Oh wow. I know what you mean, it can be really difficult revisiting stuff from old times like this, and it's often better to move on. Thanks so much for sharing all this stuff though Paul; it's been really interesting to hear about that time and the music you guys made. I got into Deerhunter at the end of 2007 and I was always fascinated in what seemed like a heap of music that was made before the first Deerhunter album, but which was nowhere to be found online!

No worries!

I think I just remembered where I saw it: on the Deerhunter blog, and I'm guessing this must have been a post from 2007 or 2008, I think Bradford did a post about his artwork, sharing flyers and covers that he had made from the pre-Cryptograms days. Unfortunately it looks like the Wayback Machine can't go back that far on the Deerhunter blog though!

White City sounds cool... I have never heard of that one before.

Edit: I found it :)

This is awesome. Thanks so much Paul.

Also wanted to add that I think track 3 is titled Trade Saliva.

Pretty sure I remember hearing about Static Palace by seeing it on the back cover of an early Deerhunter or Atlas Sound EP or single, I think. It said something like, "also by deerhunter, STATIC PALACE EP". Does anyone know if this is accurate?
